While the US stagnates.

From the CBC: Ottawa bridge gets fix with ‘sexy engineering’

A portion of the Queensway in Ottawa’s west end will be closed overnight Saturday to allow for the replacement of the Carling Avenue eastbound bridge, in a switch so quick that officials have set up bleachers so engineering fans can watch the action.

The $11.5-million bridge replacement will take less than 24 hours, but Ottawa’s main highway will be shut down starting at 6 p.m. on Saturday in the area around the Carling overpass.

Island Park and Clyde Avenue bridges have been replaced with the same method in the past three years.

Engineer Ken Polson said the relatively new technology will allow work crews to have a smaller impact on the Queensway than would have been required in the past.

“Ten years ago it would have taken two years,” he said.

They have set up bleachers and made a web cam available to watch the process. This is what happens when people actually do things – a lot of other people want to watch. In the US we don’t even paint bridges, much less replace them.

Congress has become a circus, so where’s our ‘bread’? Hell, we can’t even get that right.

Bryan, the Vandals Republicans took off with our bread when they sacked Rome Washington. The only question is who plays the role of incompetent Valentinian III in this play, and who played the role of Pope Leo I and opened the gates to the barbarian hoard.

That would be Zero and Saint Ronnie, to answer your questions.

Apparently the Florida Tea Party doesn’t think that Congresscritter Allen West is crazy enough to be part of their club because he voted for Boehner’s bill. These people would have approved of the barbarians, whom they are attempting to emulate. They don’t want to build, they want to destroy.

No, Bryan, Zero is playing the role of Honorius, the emperor who killed the last effective general that Rome had then fiddled around in Ravena while the Goths sacked Rome in 410AD. Zero is pissing on the progressives who put him in office and removing any effective progressive leadership in White House circles in much the same way Honorius enraged the Goths and removed any leadership of the last Roman legion by killing Stilicho.

Thing is, I know how this play turns out. I don’t want to experience it in real life. But I don’t have a choice, apparently :(.

We are going to have a Republican President in 2012, but it remains to be seen what the House will look like. The Senate has become irrelevant.

Increasingly the whole kabuki theater is becoming irrelevant. The grifters are running the show now, and puppeting the pols to pretend to govern while the grifters run wild. The only reason one of the grifters doesn’t pronounce himself as emperor is because the illusion of democracy keeps the proles happy. Thing is, the majority of Americans actually *believe* the scam, and keep voting for the same puppets over and over again. And if you tell them that they’re being scammed, it’s just like trying to deal with any other victim of a con — they insist “no no, maybe those *others* are corrupt, but this nice young man couldn’t *possibly* be, you must be mistaken.” They say the hardest thing about prosecuting cons is getting the victim of the con job to testify against the con-man… and that’s for ordinary con-men, ones who don’t have their own media outlets proudly pumping the con.

Sigh. WASF.

The ‘feral elite’ have taken over, the pols are just ‘go-fors’.

No one wants to admit they’ve been scammed – it injures their pride.

The elites help each other to maintain the facade.
