The Top Story under CNN’s World heading is: Are the Smurfs crypto-fascists?
I knew an officer in a neighboring jurisdiction who was called “Smurf” by street people because ‘he was short, blue, and fuzzy.” That was highly evolved humor for a group of people who had long ago chemically fried their synapses.
Has anyone told the CNN editors that Smurfs are cartoon characters? Are they so impressed that someone can translate a story from a foreign language into English, that they want to feature it?
Can we just stop pretending the media is worth watching or listening to. Most bloggers have higher editorial standards, even on the right.

I dunno about the right-wing bloggers having higher standards. After all, we’re talking about folks who had a gay old time (pun intended) talking about the Teletubbies being a gay indoctrination cult back in the day.
Crazy is crazy, regardless of who’s publishing it. What this *does* seem to say, however, is that there’s little to distinguish CNN’s content from that of random bloggers throwing darts at a set of ad-lib dartboards. Dart #1 on the noun board… “Smurfs!” Dart #2 on the adjective board… “Fascist!” The rest writes itself :twisted:.

Even on the right a significant number avoid cartoon characters, as it would cut into their time to advocate wars, and measure fonts.
The whole point of the article seemed to be, to introduce to translate foreign language news coverage without actually covering anything relevant. They could have had articles from conservative German newspapers describing the Congressional Tea Party caucus as morons, but they went with Smurfs.
