Truth In Satire
While Mad Kane wrote a Limerick Ode To A Failed Presidency, and Paul Krugman says that his “reservoir of trust is now completely drained”, The Onion reports the unvarnished truth: Obama: Debt Ceiling Deal Required Tough Concessions By Both Democrats And Democrats Alike.

Sigh. The problem with satire is…..none of this stuff is funny……..
I can understand that, especially with Bug starting college, because they have screwed with the funding again.
They keep harping about people taking responsibility and planning for expenses, like college and retirement. Well, how in the hell do you plan, when they keep changing the rules?
I have an older brother who did it the way they said you should, and he watched it melt when the bankers blew up the economy. The only money he can count on is Social Security, and now they are screwing with that.
The Onion hasn’t been satire since 2001, when they did their “our long national nightmare of peace and prosperity is over!” story upon the inauguration of George W. Bush. Anytime I think The Onion has become so absurd as to trump reality, reality does a sideways kick flip and ends up making the Onion seem dowdy.

They do seemed to have moved from satire to prophecy.
