"There are two novels that can change a bookish 14-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."

That is a patient look!
What a beauty, too! Love the pearl gray.
And yes, they can certainly become focused when a meal is coming.
Oh, they are patient until the first spoonful of wet food drops, then you finish quickly to avoid being knocked over.
Love the way her little paws are all together in one pile that’s protected from the cold by her fluffy tail. Elegant little thing. At least, when waiting patiently, not quite so much I suppose when attempting to knock you over to get at the food :).
She waits for the bigger cats to rush in, because they miss most of the food in their rush to be first. Her brother and Mini-Sox will be trying to get the same food while she strolls in and cleans up two dishes. It is a matter of priorities, and her priority is eating, not dominance, like the males.

Heh. My two do that trying to get the same food deal too. And their race to see who gets to “mark” the fresh litter box first is the stuff of legend (with photographic evidence even!).
That’s the other thing about toms – females cover it, but males want it to be smelled to announce their presence.
Well, Mencken is actually pretty good about covering it. Poor TMF, on the other hand, has not quite figured out that whole cause and effect thing, TMF just re-arranges the litter all over the place, occasionally sniffing his deposit to determine that no, shoveling the litter some random direction did NOT cover it, until some accidental ricochet manages to cover the deposit or he tires of shoveling.
That photo (and the political discussion that ensued) is still one of my favorites to this day…
Oh my, Badtux! That photo is priceless evidence that a picture definitely is worth a thousand words…

boatlitter box …”, Badtux.
