Who Are Those Guys?

The Local Puppy Trainer identifies the Post Office advertisers:

The Lyndon LaRouche Political Action Committee has drawn attention from residents recently as volunteers set up shop in front of local post offices with signs promoting their controversial and varied platform and messages.

“Lyndon LaRouche and LaRouche PAC are what stand between you and an otherwise inevitable collapse of civilization,”the PAC’s website states.

Buried among the “impeach Obama” signs, they are calling for the reinstatement of the Glass-Steagall Act to rein in banks. There are points where their universe intersects reality.

Ah yes, the LaRouches. They also believe that the Rothchild family controls the money supply, the Queen of England is a ruthless dictator whose private security forces are hunting Lyndon for exposing the fraud, and other things of that ilk. I assure you that any intersection of their beliefs with actual objective reality is only coincidental.

It is like Charlie Pierce’s five minute rule on Ron/Rand Paul – they start out sounding sane, but it comes apart after 5 minutes of listening.

Zero better hope that Repubs don’t go for impeachment, because it’s reaching the point where Dems in Congress will abstain rather than voting against such a push.

The Larouchies have been plaguing postal patrons for over a decade, at least at the post office where I have a PO box. Early on, I chatted with them a few times, for entertainment. All I can say is, “hot nuts! hot nuts! get ’em while they’re hot!”

I used to stay at Democratic senatorial district conventions long after my interest had waned in order to prevent the Larouche nuts from having a majority for long enough to pass a few truly nutso resolutions. Like their founder, they had and have no respect for anyone’s tradition, or the law, or much of anything else. If inclined to major party membership, they’d be almost ideal 21st-century Republicans.

They are probably in the Tea Party full-time around here, and become Larouchies when it looks like there’s something in it for them. Their stipends probably cover the cost of their hoods, tricorns, and fool’s bells, depending on which events they attend.

I was wondering if the Local Puppy Trainer would say anything about them. The LPT certainly knew they were there because the LPT offices are about two blocks from the main Post Office.
