That’s the title of an old TV show that satirized the news in olden times : That Was The Week That Was.

Bridgegate was the big story, because nothing else was happening that wasn’t weather-related.

Robert Gates came out with a book saying that Joe Biden is often wrong. If Joe is only ‘often wrong’ he has a better batting average than Robert Gates, who has been on the wrong side of history with every position he has taken going back to the 1980s. It is a major defect of the US systems that people who are proven wrong keep getting government jobs, and air time on television.

The banning of incandescent lights is causing a problem for people who work with animals. The defect of the bulbs, the ‘wasted heat’ they produce has been used for years to warm incubators and other devices for animal care facilities. I use them to heat a slab for the feral cats. We are now going to have to find new solutions.

Actually, incandescents haven’t been banned. There are new efficiency standards that mean most manufacturers are giving up on them, but some have created better incandescents, and “specialty” lights (for appliances, low wattage, etc) can still be incandescent, so I suspect you’ll be able to find new options with little difficulty.

There are brooding lamps that can be purchased at farming stores, should you have any near you. They are used for keeping baby chickens warm. I bought one to keep the well hardware warm. So far, so good. I bought a couple packs of the incandescent bulbs in November or December. Hopefully, there are some still in the store, so I can hoard some.

They were banned in Canada, and effectively banned here by the few local retailers still in existence, NTodd, so I may have to get them through the mail.

I’ll check on brooding lamps. The North County is agricultureal, so they should have them, and there’s always the ‘Net. Thanks, OWL
