Friday Cat Blogging
It’s A Trap!
Sigh ….
[Editor: CC laying out like this can end in two ways: you stroke her and she purrs; or you stroke her and pull back a bloody stump. Even she has no idea which will happen – it’s ‘quantum’.]

"There are two novels that can change a bookish 14-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. The other, of course, involves orcs."

Hmm. Sounds like my neighbor’s cat… the one that’s always coming around begging for attention.
Ah, yes, rubbing up against your legs hoping to trip you to afford a clear shot at your carotid artery, or to get head scratches, depending on the phase of the moon, length of the day, time from last nap, day of the week, and the current color of the traffic light on Beal at the Memorial intersection. Yep, just like that. 🙂
Awwww… Calico! I have a fondness for that color scheme. Had a calico tabby when I was a kid that I got as a 5wk old kitten. 😀
So, is CC a female? A male calico is quite rare (about 10% or thereabouts). Males sometimes have some sort of genetic disorder also.
So many people think *Calico* is a breed, it’s not. It’s the pattern & color (due to having 2 X chromosomes, one for black and the other for orange/red/brown.They also have a gene for *bald patches* which doesn’t mean they have no fur, it means there is no color in those area, which are white. Some people also thing Calico and Tortoiseshell are the same. No. Tortoiseshell cat’s don’t have the *bald* gene, so no white patches. 🙂
I went to the library and read up on them when I got my kitten. 😉 LOL
*sigh* I wish I remembered other things as easily! My memory seems to prefer trivia to anything that is actually useful!
BTW… Usually, if the tail is swishing slowly when you approach, or they stare at you without blinking, you can pretty much guarantee that claws will follow! Also, many cats will think you want to challenge them, or you don’t trust them, if you stare at them. It’s generally safer to do a ‘slow blink’ when they look at you, or look away. If their eyes suddenly get bigger, you are about to be in a world of hurt!
Well, I guess that memory is a useful one! LOL Part of my *survival kit*. 😉 😀
The eye going to all pupil is a ‘flight/fight] automatic response to provide the maximum visual input, no matter what the cat decided to do. I watch for it when dealing with ferals.
Those things don’t work with CC. She will do it because she is CC. There are no clues as to what will happen.
Three color males are rare because the genes are normally found on the missing segment that turns an X into a Y. There are, of course, XX males, just as there are XY females, but it is rare.
CC was hand-raised by my Mother, but she had to give her up when CC started to randomly hit Mom in the back of her knee, caused her leg to buckle. Not a good trait in a pet of any species. She also tended to walk around people’s feet when they were walking, making her a mobile tripping hazard.
Yes, the trivial tends to be easier to remember than the vital.
Kryten, perhaps recalling what CC stands for might enlighten you somewhat about CC. (Hint: the last C stands for “Cat”, the first C stands for a mental state 😉 ).
