Time for my annual screed about how we aren’t that country anymore. We aren’t can-do America, we’re can’t-do America. Sigh.

We can’t even make the hardware that was used on that flight, even though the plans exist, because we don’t have the manufacturing capability. It is really pathetic what we have become.

Most people don’t even realize just what an amazing feat that truly was in the 60’s! And those men, who did know, were truly courageous! I am and always will be, in awe.

And like Badtux and yourself Bryan, totally disgusted with today (and I don’t just mean the USA either! We are not much better)!

Geez! They landed a man on the moon with nothing other than a lot of damned hard work and 3/4 of sweet FA! Now they have all this amazing high tech and money and people, and get overjoyed by sending a ship to the ISS with fingers crossed and prayer beads watching and praying it makes it all the way! What a joke.

The corporations have outsourced and cut costs to the point that they don’t actually have anyone left who really understands how to build this equipment as a unit. People used to accept that there were risks involved but they did it anyway. Now, if the risk might impact the bottom-line, well that can’t be tolerated. Aircraft companies used to build on spec, now they won’t even build a prototype without a guarantee of selling them.

No one is willing to take risks any more, so they don’t deserve profits or limited liability. That’s what capitalism is all about.

Hmmm. Syfy channel have a new documentary called “Aliens on the Moon: The Truth Exposed”. It apparently will show proof including:

Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin’s startling interview where he reveals that a UFO followed the spacecraft for three days on its way to the historic moonwalk, and that a baffling “Monolith” has been photographed by NASA on Mars’ moon Phobos. Aldrin also assesses some of the lunar photos that strongly suggest alien structures have been detected on our Moon.

· Apollo 14 astronaut Edgar Mitchell’s adamant contention that he knows for sure UFOs are real, that there is an alien presence visiting the Earth (and the space around us) and the U.S. government has been aware of it for several decades.

And so on. I have a great deal of respect for the astronauts. I’ve heard several rumors about several of them including Buzz Aldrin, particularly during my time at GD and other places. I’m curious to hear what he has to say.
