Ouch!

The BBC has a gem: Visiting envoy Samantha Power condemns response.

The US UN ambassador unloads on the world for promising to help in the Ebola epidemic, but failing to deliver. She pours salt in the wound by praising the response of Cuba, which should annoy the hell out of a lot of politicians. She points out that the situation requires supplies and trained medical personnel, not feel-good UN resolutions.

CNN has an extended interview with Kaci Hickox, the nurse arrested at the airport for helping Ebola patients in West Africa.

She insisted on keeping her iPhone, which means that she can send pictures as well as talk to the media. The pictures in the video of her living conditions are beyond strange – New Jersey has her camping out in a building!

They pitched a tent inside a building, not the hospital building but near by, and moved in a hospital bed. She has a camping toilet, but no running water or shower facilities.

Are the medical personnel treating the doctor who was diagnosed with Ebola in New York City going to be forced to live like this? If not, why is Kaci Hickox?

“If not, why is Kaci Hickox?”

Because Gov. Christie is a bloody fucking idiot and proud of it. That is the only reason.

Her living conditions are absurd. The class of viruses that include Ebola can be killed with household bleach and many other products. It dies at temperatures below the boiling point of water. UV light neuters it. All you really have to do is monitor your temperature, and if it goes up go to a medical facility for isolation and treatment. It is spreading in West Africa because of their customs and lack of medical facilities, not because it is so easy to catch.

This is political, not medical, and Kaci Hickox doesn’t intend to be quiet about it, as she shouldn’t.

It’s typical of the current USA & Europe where politics is the only important thing. Well, that and collecting obscene amounts of money.

I was reading this article in Medium a few days ago that predicted Powers response, and other related things. I think the predictions about 2015 are pretty accurate.

I think one thing all Americans can agree on is that the best way to combat Ebola, or any serious threat to the public welfare, is for ill-informed hysterical politicians to decide on the best course of action using political polling data and media trends right before a major election.

I mean, c’mon, those CDC guys? What do they really know, anyhow? Other, than, like “science” and stuff, I mean, all of which is un-Biblical and will send you to Hell if you study it?

The media goes along with this crap because politicians spend a huge amount of money on media advertising buys. If we were able to control the money, they might start reporting facts, unlikely, but they sure aren’t going to do it while the campaigns are giving them great wads of cash.

Yeah, Badtux, this is blatant political pandering and they don’t care what the facts are.
