Maintenance Warning

I’m getting ready to upgrade WordPress and normally this only takes things down for a few minutes as files are being overwritten, but this is a software upgrade so there is always the possibility of a disaster.

I’ve been putting this off to reduce the possibility of disruption, but there are no guarantees. My host just updated some of their software which is happier with the newer versions of WordPress than my current version.

Update: Dodged disaster again…

We made it through it down here without any trouble. Glad to see you made it, too.

The upgrades to the backend made it necessary, but that big spate of updates from WordPress in the fall put me seriously behind as they came during the active part of the hurricane season, not that it was very active.

I’ve had some problems with attacks that have required some messing about with my configuration and file permissions, so I’ve been cautious about messing around and plugins. With computers there’s always a chance of disaster every time you change anything.
