Yukon Quest 2015 – Start

Sled DogThe Start is at 1:00PM CST (11:00AM PST) in Whitehorse, Yukon. The teams leave at 3 minute intervals, which is adjusted at the first mandatory stop. This means that the current positions aren’t meaningful until the last team finishes that stop.

It is forecast to be -24°F at the start. Sunrise is a little after 9AM PST and sets at around 5:30PM PST. The moon is waning gibbous, about 90% illuminated, so there will be some help at the start of the race if the sky is clear. The temperatures have been cold and some snow has fallen, so the trail is in better shape than it was mid-January.

The Mushers in bold are former winners of the Yukon Quest, the numbers in parentheses are their Bib numbers, and the small “R” indicates a rookie.
