Yukon Quest 2015 – Day 14 and Final
This morning finds Rob Cooke and the Siberians the final team on the trail with Kristin coming in at 12:33AM CST this morning. Rob is about 40 miles out pushing through the crisp, clear zero degree air bringing in the Red Lantern.
And the race ended at 2:13PM CST when Rob Cooke and the Siberians crossed the line in Fairbanks. 26 teams started, but only 16 finished the race [62%]. 364 puppies pulled out of Whitehorse, but only 157 made the entire trip [43%]. The biggest problem was the extreme cold in the first half of the race which was the primary cause of almost every injury among the puppies. Half of those teams that scratched had the entire 14 dog team still healthy and pulling.
The Current Standings at 3:00PM CST (12:00PM AKST):

These are the official standings. That means they are official, not that they are correct. Things jump around a lot as people decide to update the standings. This problem is especially bad in the back of the pack, as no one bothers to update those standings when the lead is changing.
The Mushers in bold are former winners of the Yukon Quest, the numbers in parentheses are their Bib numbers, and the small “R” indicates a rookie.
Note: This post will be updated during the day, and the map changed on all posts to reflect the current situation.
