February 2015 was the coldest calendar month on record with an average temperature of 12.2°F which is an astounding 14.2°F below normal. This breaks the previous record of 12.6°F set back in February of 1934.

Wow. A friend who lives near Rochester was going to come out here to California to visit but reported that he really can’t because of the weather. Now I know why!
If he’s in one of the towns closer to Lake Ontario than the city, he’s probably dealing with over 4 feet of snow, the 4th most snow in the records. I have family in Fairport which is to the southeast of the city and they have been talking about it all month. Meanwhile, Anchorage is having a warm front move in, making even the parade for the Iditarod a possible no-go.
