Last Gasp of Winter
We are forecast to approach freezing tomorrow morning, and not much warmer on Saturday. The ferals are in catspace to stay warm. The pollen count has been at about 75% of the maximum for the past week, so I have been sneezing and coughing every time I go outside.
In addition to the pollen we have had dense fog for several days as the high, low, & dew point merged. The system that is blocking Interstates from Kentucky to the East Coast has been pulling in warm, moist air from the Gulf which gave us temperatures in the low 70s with 100% humidity. There was little actual rain, but things were just as damp as if there had been.
The 10 day forecast looks like temperatures are finally returning to normal and my utility bill will drop down to a reasonable range from the ionosphere of the last two months.
Sunday morning at 2AM we are shifting to Daylight Saving Time. I don’t want to save daylight, I want to spend it on warming things up!

The Coming Of The Slush
It looks like the cold is finally backing off in Western New York, which is good news, but it also means that the mountains of white snow are about to become a gray, salty, slush that leaves white stains on your footware from the massive amounts of salt spread on the roads. It eats leather.
When it warms up during the day it is like wading through a charcoal Slurpee, but as the temperature drops it will refreeze into ice rocks. If you are lucky and your car has the same wheelbase as the last car that drove through the slush before it finished freezing the drive will be smooth in those ruts. Usually it was a semi that made the ruts, so you are bouncing all over the place on your homeward commute.
It is a dirty, miserable time of the year until it gets warm enough, long enough for the slush to disappear down the storm sewers.
The slush is why many people in New York have a cheap, rusty winter car to sacrifice to the salt, while their good car is in the garage awaiting the real Spring. They don’t change tires, they change cars.

Bibi’s Republican Speech
The Republicans invited him. The Republicans gave him standing ovations. He refused to talk to Senate Democrats. This was obviously a speech for Republicans.
Here’s the link to the Official Israeli transcription of the speech.
He’s has been giving a variation on this speech since 1992, and Iran still doesn’t have nukes. Iran signed the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty, Israel has refused. Iran doesn’t have nuclear weapons and has UN inspectors monitoring its nuclear program. Israel has nuclear weapons, and no one gets to monitor anything.
Netanyahu’s concept of negotiations is that he won’t engage in them unless the other party agrees with him on all of the issues involved. He will then send a representative to the signing ceremony. He will keep the agreement until he feel that abandoning it is better for him politically. He doesn’t talk to people, he bombs them.

They’re Back!!!
If you live in the state of Florida and are not part of the 1% hide the women, children, dogs, livestock, and wallets because the legislature is back in session for their annual 60 days of lunacy.
Expect to see more ‘tax breaks’ for the wealthy and big business while the ‘fees’ paid by everyone else are increased.

Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Sant
It’s Saint David’s Day, and, as he is their patron saint, it is a national holiday in Wales. The Welsh wear leeks or daffodils [called Peter’s leek in Welsh] on this day.
