Potluck

The Chinese government is sending military chemical troops to Tianjin to see if they can figure out what’s going on and what needs to be done.

El Niño is strengthening and may make it to the top of the list for strength and lifespan. It has pretty much eliminated the hurricane season in the Atlantic, and made life hell in the Pacific.

Despite speculation that Al Gore might run for President again, close friends say the rumors are absurd. It is beginning to look like the media wants someone other than Bernie Sanders challenging Hillary Clinton.

Bernie Sanders says too many things that the mainstream media’s corporate owners would prefer not to repeat in public. So yeah, it’s embarrassing to them that they have to cover Sanders now that he’s ahead of Clinton in some polls in some states!

I expect them to rig up a Howard Dean style faked-up “scandal” against Barry Sanders any minute now if he continues getting traction….

Bernie is 73 years old. All us geezers can only hope the scandal the media cook up for him is sexual in nature 🙂 but I think given his major campaign themes it’s more likely the media will try for some sort of financial impropriety, though I can’t begin to imagine what it would be.

The man is much more popular than I ever expected… I signed on as a supporter with some reluctance, expecting to be asking for a table for one, but a lot of the public have noticed him. I’m not saying he has a chance to become the Democratic nominee for prez… he doesn’t… but if he can be a very public voice for the ideas so many of us advocate, he will have done his nation a great service.

They have been doing their best to ignore the size of the crowds at his events. New Hampshire is the first valid test of the polling data, because Iowa is a caucus state making it fairly bogus. The media companies are as important as the Super PACs in determining who the candidates will be, and neither likes Bernie’s small donor campaign financing model.

Steve, I wouldn’t count Bernie out because the media is in full Clinton Derangement Syndrome mode. The insiders are scrambling to find someone as a replacement if Hillary is too badly injured by CDS.

I expect Joe Biden to be about as popular as Hubert Humphrey if he gets pressed into service as the candidate because Hillary or Bernie got (character) assassinated like Bobby Kennedy got for-real assassinated. Biden is a bit more personable than Hubert Humphrey was (HH made Richard Nixon look honest — that’s how oily he was) but still. The Democratic Party has *horrible* luck with fill-in candidates, the Republican always seems to win when they do it.

I don’t think they’ll get Biden to run, but the media is doing its best to ignore Bernie and malign Hillary. They seem to want to talk about Trump and not much else. There really isn’t much to choose from as far as candidates go. Since the GOP decided to go batshit crazy the entire political system has gone to hell.
