First Line of Defense?
The ABC reports on a West Point tradition:
Thirty cadets at the prestigious US Military Academy in New York state have been left injured after a traditional pillow fight turned bloody.
The brawl left 24 young cadets with concussions, the West Point academy told the New York Times, after reports that some stuffed their pillows with hard objects.
I can tell you from personal experience that the standard military pillow is not fluffy and the cover is stiffer than a new pair of jeans, but you couldn’t possibly give someone a concussion with one.
They train military officers at West Point. Do we really want people who cheat in a pillow fight to be officers?

Short answer: Hell no…. but we will forgive those who ‘cheated’ at the game and allow them to get into positions of power so they can go to war with unsuspecting countries…
A pillow fight is juvenile, even by military and college standards. West Point is supposed to be about “Honor” and cheating was once an instant transfer to basic training for enlisted personnel to fulfill the military obligation that is part of going to military academies.
West Point has lacrosse, hockey, and football if cadets want to beat someone up.
Honor is for suckers, seems to be the current mood amongst people under age 40. Kind of like that county clerk who has a religious objection to doing the duty she swore an oath to do. The only honorable thing to do would be to resign, but no, she wants that cushy job but without having to do all the work it involves. SIGH.
“Duty, Honor, Country” is apparently too hard for people to understand. The people under 40 learned not to believe in the concepts by the 1% who control this country. People who do their duty, have honor, and love their country get screwed over, so there is no benefit beyond personal satisfaction.
We’re living in Griftopia. It’s all about the grift. If you can’t be one of the 1%, grift off the rest of the people by doing something that’s going to make you a martyr and get you sympathy and money from people who ought to know better. It’s all about how many people you can fool into sending you money nowadays. Honor? Duty? Country? Pfaw. Nobody cares.
These people are targeting their jobs after the military, not their careers in the military. This crap started with McNamara who decided officers should be managers, not leaders. This led to political officers rather than combat officers. This leads to clowns like Petraeus who can say what the politicians want to hear, but aren’t smart enough to keep their pants zipped.
