News Drought

Neil Macdonald, the CBC’s senior correspondent and a headline writer have captured the mood of US politics in the article: Yeah, so’s your mom. The rat-like charm of Donald Trump.*

The paternal, indulgent smile usually worn by the barbered and tanned Republican establishment is gone.

In its place is whey-faced fear. The primary-season freakshow that once served the party’s interests so nicely now threatens to consume it.

Mainstream Republicans (admittedly a relative term nowadays) have lost control to a reality show star, a vulgar braggart who somehow manages to evince populism while flaunting extreme wealth and his membership in the .0001 per cent club.

Donald Trump transcends the freakshow, he’s the whole carnival in one man, and taking the car keys away from him isn’t going to be easy, if it can be done at all.

Actually today’s top story mentioned internationally was a sport’s injury: “Full-back Luke Shaw suffered a double fracture of his right leg in Manchester United’s Champions League loss at PSV Eindhoven.”

* That was the main page headline with a different headline when you go to the linked article.

Trump? Trump? O’side & Carlsbad got rained on. That’s the best news yet. I’m certain the GOP gaggle will use that as proof there is no climate change

In other news, Glenn “Crazy Eyes” Beck noted that Trump’s supporters are “primarily racists”. And water is wet. Even Glenn Beck can see that.

Shirt, the best news would be rain in Northern California – nice constant light rain without lightning.

Every once in a while Beck has an attack of sanity, but it won’t last long. Trump wants to annoy the Chinese by building his own “Great Wall”. As a real estate hustler he wants to build something when it serves any purpose or not.

I’m sure the Great Trump Wall with have bricks imprinted with Trump’s name and it will be built by undocumented workers…

And wonderful quote from the article, Bryan! Stealing this to share….

There is absolutely no way a project this large in the Southwest is not going to involve undocumented workers. When they built the wall/fence and border crossing on Otay Mesa in San Diego County the labors showed up in trucks from the South.

I noticed this because this is Canadian and they don’t usually get this pointed about things. It is a sure sign of how low the primaries have sunk.
