Housebound

It was nice to see that the new prime minister of Canada appreciates Halloween traditions. OTOH there were no children willing to risk stoning by the Fundies to ‘trick or treat’ around here.

The average rainfall for November here is 3.46 inches. We already had 2.8 inches at 2PM [Central STANDARD Time] so I think we’ll make it this year, probably today. We are not experiencing the flooding problems that they have been having in Texas.

Update: Just over 3 inches Monday and 1.8+ today.

Even if it wasn’t raining, which scrubs the pollen, I wouldn’t be spending a lot of time outside because we are having a Red Tide bloom. It isn’t just the odor of dead fish, I’m sensitive to the airborne toxin of Karenia brevis, the specific type of Red Tide algae responsible for the local blooms.

I see that they are now admitting that there are Special Forces ‘advisors’ in Syria. This isn’t really like Vietnam – we didn’t help the Viet Cong in SEA. 👿

you call that rain? if it’s not coming down at least an inch/hour for at least a day, it’s not really rain. 😉

the red tide is supposedly killing off a few lionfish, so there’s that. of course, it’s killing off the mullet and snapper and everything else too.

Nobody in the Middle East seems willing to follow the script anymore. You know the one, where we pay a military junta to kill the previous leader and install one of their own as El Presidente, then flood the country with weapons, troops, and bribe money err “economic assistance” to deal with the Viet Cong err ISIS. Darn wogs seem to think we don’t have their best interests at heart. Imagine that.

I wish we had some of that rain here. It was supposed to rain this weekend here. It didn’t. SIGH. 🙁

I know, Hipparchia. It punked out at just over 3 inches. It’s barely worth taking an umbrella 😉

Killing lionfish is a plus, but oystering is taking a major hit, and mullet will be in short supply.

Badtux, you really have to wonder when, if ever, the people with power are going to figure out that whatever we do is going to be wrong, and we should stop doing anything. Of course, no matter which party is in power, the other side is going to demand that we have to do something because we are the last superpower, and noblesse oblige requires it.

You’re in South Fundistan, so mullets will *never* be in short supply there. And most of those wearing them do so with no sense of irony at all.

Ba da boomp ;).

That was really bad, Badtux.

It looks like the Bay Area got some rain today and it snowed, so you are getting some El Niño effect, but you are going to need a lot more.

Yeah, got a nice rain this morning, but now it’s cool and dry again. We need *lots* of nice rains…

Hey, what can I say, mullets and South Fundistan go together like buzz cuts and Army barbers :).
