More Graphics Fun
Now that the New Zealand flag debate has faded from the scene, the redesign of the Australian $5 dollar bill has risen to take its place.
I think the CBC has played against type when they include “clown puke” in the headline for their article. The yellow things on the bill are not trilobites or paramecia as I had initially thought, but prickly-leaved wattle, a SCHRUBBERY!, for all you NI sayers.
As with the New Zealand flags, people are quick to offer their own designs.

Well, there is at least one old fossil on that bill@ (Sorry Mum)
Yes, I saw the $5 redesign last night and was, like, “Whuh?” Other than the giant visage of a much-younger-than-now Queen Elizabeth (needed, I suppose, as a giant slap in the face against the anti-monarchists and they couldn’t use a more recent image because she looks her age), it made no sense. I, too, wondered “WTF is with these disease organisms on this bill?!”. Because that’s what they look like. *Not* like a shrubbery.
There simply isn’t a cohesive design to the thing. It’s like they reached into their clip art inventory and just started pasting things willy-nilly at random places….
if they have add such paramecia to the doge one, i’ll move to Australia.
I checked and the plant used in the Australian coat of arms looks more like the golden acacia than the prickly-leaved, and the flowers are puff balls like Chinese tallow, pussy willows, or cotton bolls. I do have a toilet bowl brush that does look a lot like a white version of those things.
I’m not sure about having to use money that is embarrassing, like a US bill with Reagan on it.
I think the counterfitters would certainly think twice before reproducing that one.
Most of the good ones would be too artistically inclined to want to be associated with the attempt. I understand the concept and the various techniques, but it wouldn’t hurt to show a little morsel of taste…
There are plenty of Australian women who would as good or better than a clip of ERII from the 1960’s.
It’s crap. There is a LOT of chatter about it, even a couple of petitions that have gone viral! I think it’s just a distraction from the upcoming election & probably intentional.
You all’d be welcome here, but you may end up in the fire. *shrug*
If Labor wins they are talking about a ‘Royal Commission’ to investigate the banking sector, so the sector would like to have people thinking of anything except them. Graphics is harmless…
