In The News
There’s no end in sight for the Fort McMurray fire as the number of evacuees approaches 100K and a state of emergency is declared.
Kasich suspended his campaign after going nowhere in Indiana, a neighboring state, so the Republicans are stuck with Drumpf. Now we have to see if he can find anyone willing to be his Vice Presidential candidate.
In local news, I have no idea who, if anyone, is going to run for Congress in my district as the incumbent is running for Rubio’s open Senate seat.

Trump will have no shortage of people willing to be his Veep. Heck, Rick Perry and Wasilla Barbie have already volunteered :).
Rubio no longer being in the Senate is the one and only good thing about his run for the Presidency…
It is an oddity of Florida law apparently that you can only appear on the ballot once. He couldn’t run for reelection and the President. If he hadn’t been up for reelection he would not have had to resign from the Senate. They are dredging the bottom of the swamp to come up candidates known in more than a small area.
When did Perry and Palen get reclassified as people?
Somewhere around the time that Dick Cheney got reclassified as people rather than as heartless rage monster that survives on the blood of innocent puppies and kittens and newborn innocents…
Oh wait.
Yeah, big dick. And his daughter is a real chip off the putty block. He’d be a match for the don as Veep… except I don’t think don likes dick much.

I still get email & access to Technet (despite I haven’t paid the annual dues for years *shrug*), M$ are releasing the ‘redstone’ 1 update to W10 in July (was going to be June, but they moved it a month so they could be cute & call it the “Anniversary Update”). The 2nd major update scheduled for Nov. will be early 2017 now.
ZDnet: Microsoft confirms Windows 10 ‘Redstone’ 1 will be available this summer
One of the more interesting points of this new update is that M$ & Canonical have done a deal where the Ubuntu bash shell has been ported to W10 as a CLI in a bid to woo Linux developers. 🙂
Microsoft cozies up to Ubuntu as developers welcome cold day in hell
How do you make hell freeze over “a bit”? *shrug*
My bad – the Supremes made them people along with Malwart in the Citizens United ruling – if Monsanto can be a person so can Rick Perry…
If M$ switched to a Linux OS as Apple did, it would be somewhat chilly in the Netherlands [yes, all of the variations of names for one of my ‘fatherlands’ mean ‘Hell’], but it still won’t be as trouble free as Ubuntu Linux is.
Kryten, the basic problem is that basically all of Web 2.0 is running on Linux, and all the tools — Mercurial/git, nodejs, etc. — are written for Linux. What Microsoft has done is no different from what they’ve done in the past, which is to write an emulation layer and pretend that, because it’s part of the OS, it’s not “really” an emulation layer. Underneath that layer is still pure Windows.
In other words, they’ve done Cygwin right, but it’s still just an environment on top of Windows, it’s not Linux.
Hmm, yeah, forgot about that Supreme Court decision, eh? 🙂
Now coming to you from the Raspberry Pi 3 – a gift for 70.
