Normally when a storm loses its tropical characteristics the National Hurricane Center stops issuing advisories, as they did with Gaston, but because of its track along the coast and the need to maintain consistency of reporting, after Hurricane Sandy it was decided that the NHC would continue reporting until a storm is no longer a threat to land.

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Ocracoke Inlet, North Carolina to Watch Hill, Rhode Island, Chesapeake Bay from Drum Point southward, and Delaware Bay.

A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for Watch Hill, Rhode Island, to Sagamore Beach, Massachusetts, including Block Island, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket.
