Labor Day
In any celebration of Labor Day I’m at a slight disadvantage because for a big chunk of my life it was celebrated as May Day where I was living.
It is rather unique, as it is the only holiday I’m aware of that was imported from Canada where it’s spelled Labour Day.
When I was an elementary school student, it marked the end of summer and beginning of school, but it is a rare holiday in the South as there is no tradition of blowing things up in celebration. There is also no tradition of honoring labor in the South, and labor unions are considered communist conspiracies.

Normally when a storm loses its tropical characteristics the National Hurricane Center stops issuing advisories, as they did with Gaston, but because of its track along the coast and the need to maintain consistency of reporting, after Hurricane Sandy it was decided that the NHC would continue reporting until a storm is no longer a threat to land.

Say What?
US Election: Trump backer’s Taco warning if Clinton wins:
The founder of Latinos For Trump has been widely mocked for warning of a future with “taco trucks on every corner” in the US if Hillary Clinton wins the presidential election.
Marco Gutierrez was explaining why he supports Donald Trump, a day after the presidential candidate’s visit to Mexico.
“My culture is a very dominant culture and it’s imposing and it’s causing problems,” he told MSNBC.
“If you don’t do something about it, you’re going to have taco trucks on every corner.”
Will the trucks offer burritos also? Will the meat be shredded or ground? Will the Cokes come from Mexico?
There are a lot of questions that have to be answered to determine whether this is merely a good idea or a great idea. 😆
