The BBC reports that Toronto ‘guerrilla’ archivists to help preserve US climate data. Essentially the climate science community is interested in preserving access to the data currently available from US government web sites of the EPA, Energy Department, etc. These data are important to the long term study of climate change. The concern is that the data may become unavailable after ‘Chaos’ is inaugurated.

I’ve been wondering if there was any way I could help – donate computer space, donate money, donate time . . . .
I think they have it well in hand because a lot of Canada’s universities have climate studies and use/need the US data. They can come up with funds for more storage, easier that the money it would cost to rebuild the databases they have been using. It’s nice to have countries that learned something from Mr Rogers in our neighborhood 🙂
