We Have Laws
Drumpf has named General James Mattis, USMC retired to be his choice for Secretary of Defense, which is fine if he gets re-elected because the General can’t take the office until 2020, 7 years after he retired.
The 7 year restriction on military officers and the anti-nepotism laws are not new. Maybe someone should show Drumpf the rules for these appointments.

Insurance
The Internet Archive, the HTTP time machine that records the history of World Wide Web, is planning to create a backup in Canada because of the uncertainty of the policies of a Trump administration.
While any attack on the Archives by the government would probably be reversed by the courts, the attack might be enough to destroy its work and stop its continuing collection of updates. Court cases take time and Trump lawyers specialize in dragging out court cases.

It’s Over
This has been a very long season kicked off by what became Hurricane Alex on January 12th and ended with Otto on November 26th. There were 16 tropical systems and 15 of them earned names. Of the named storms, 7 became hurricanes with 3 making major hurricane status. Hurricane Matthew was Category 5 with 160 mph sustained winds at one point.
Things have changed and weird is the new normal for tropical weather.
