Groundhog Day

Militant Groundhog

It’s Groundhog Day and some of the militant marmots object to being disturbed.

The CBC offers the most complete coverage and tell us that Shubenacadie Sam in Nova Scotia and Wiarton Willie in Ontario think winter is over, but Punxsutawney Phil from Pennsylvania predicts six more weeks.

FYI: this is approximately the midpoint between the Winter Solstice and the Vernal Equinox. It is called Imbolc among the Celts, which is why people are interested.

January and February are the hardest months for me, and it never matters what the Groundhog says for anyone else, we ALWAYS have six more weeks of winter. LOL.

Add that to this year’s inauguration, and I’m a little more than depressed. It’s beyond weird. Not in my wildest dreams could I imagine some of the things that have already been done, and the man hasn’t even got a good head of steam on yet.

There’s always spring, though. Once I hit March, I know it’s almost over. I may just have to stop reading the news, though.

It’s all on its way to the courts which are going to give these clowns a general WTF? to most of what has been done.

Not to bum you out but I’m still waiting for winter. I’ll post my first azalea later today.

Okay, I AM bummed out. I just had a friend from Florida send me a cartoon that the groundhogs down there saw their shadow and were predicting 12 more months of good weather!

And the Alzheimer craziness gets worse in the winter months as well. It’s all added up this year, and I do not have a good frame of mind, but it’s the best I can manage. On the bright side, the Yukon Quest and Iditarod season is upon us, so I can enjoy watching lots of doggies!
