More border weirdness: “Advanced practice nurses and nurse anesthetists told they no longer qualify for professional visas”. Apparently regular nurses from Canada can work in the US with NAFTA TN visas, but it has now been decided that nurses with advanced training and skills need to get H1B visas which take months and cost $4000 or more.
This action is not going to reduce the cost of health care in the US.
The White House is trying to soften Trump’s claim on wiretapping, while Trump stands by his unverified wiretap claim. Meanwhile Congress tells Trump: Let’s see some proof regarding wiretapping.

And the ridiculous thing is that they’re registered nurses, RN’s, which are specifically mentioned by the NAFTA treaty as a TN specialty. Their practice areas may be specialized but their general licensing is as a registered nursed. Which is specifically listed by the NAFTA treaty as a TN visa specialty. But apparently CBP feels they don’t need to abide by the law of the land anymore because, well, Trump (and NAFTA *is* the law of the land until repealed).
Apparently orders were passed down and the CBP was told to cut the crap and enforce the rules as written, not their newly interpreted version, so the nurses can again get in with TN visas and border hospitals don’t have to go to massive amounts of overtime to stay open.
