The Odyssey – 2017 CE
There was nothing critical in the package and the total value of the merchandise was under $10, but the shipping doubled the cost, so I was annoyed. I took the cheapest option so didn’t expect it to show up for at least a week.
A week passed and I had the tracking number so I checked to see where it was. It was shipped from New York City so I assumed it would be thrown in a truck using I-95. I was right, but the truck it was put in was on I-95 North and it went to a suburb of Boston. There they discovered the problem and put it on a truck going South.
I wasn’t upset – stuff happens, anyone could mistake Watertown, Massachusetts for Fort Walton Beach, Florida. 😈 Things were back on track. I-95 down to Jacksonville, then I-10 to Tallahassee. Things were moving right along and the package was scanned into Fort Walton Beach very early last Thursday.
It didn’t show up on Thursday, so I checked and they said Friday … then it was Monday, then on Tuesday they stopped posting a delivery date. I e-mailed the merchant and told them that it appeared the shipper had lost the package.
The merchant put out a trace, and the shipper started looking around. Last night they found the package in Montgomery, Alabama, and shipped it back to Fort Walton.
It finally showed up during a thunderstorm early this afternoon [another inch of rain]. The package had not 1, not 2, but 4 different labels on it with the correct address. WTF?!

It sounds as if you received interference from the multiverse.
The brown trucks kept passing in and out of this reality. They probably went too close to Trump properties – known gateways to the Dungeon Dimensions.
Seems to be in the air. Here is the message I received this morning:
“Your package scheduled for delivery on Thursday, 04/06/2017 may be delayed due to unexpected circumstances. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Exception Reason: An emergency situation or severe weather condition has delayed delivery.
Exception Resolution: Your delivery has been rescheduled for the next business day.
Select the highlighted tracking number below to view the latest package status.”
So I click on the tracking number and see:
Sunnyvale, CA, United States
04/06/2017 10:00 A.M. An emergency situation or severe weather condition has delayed delivery. / Your delivery has been rescheduled for the next business day.

South San Francisco, CA, United States

Apparently between 5:15AM and 10:00AM, my package was in a time warp inside the Sunnyvale processing center (Sunnyvale is where my delivery driver comes from)… either that, or the “severe weather condition” (there wasn’t any today) was that the driver was under the weather, as in, came to work drunk…
Oh well, hopefully tomorrow my new pfSense firewall appliance gets here. At least, it’s already there in the building, if it doesn’t get here, I’m going to go there and ask them why!
There was bad weather in Colorado, where they may have accidentally sent your package after arrival in Sunnyvale 🙂
There’s some serious time warps going on. The order was processed and ready for UPS by 4/5 6:27PM. Then it left San Bernardino at 4/5 3:13PM.
Uhm, wha?
There’s the problem – if they didn’t stop and let the time drain off you might have received the package before you ordered it and then you wouldn’t have ordered it and the time line would snap. 😈
They need to pull the flux capacitors out of the trucks and start making a few left turns.
Don’t believe the shoddy coverup, Bryan. Clearly your package was requisitioned and sidelined for drone delivery testing. The multiple labels probably contain variations of machine readable coding. Still a few bugs to work out apparently. Or maybe their contractor is working under cost-plus.
These are the kinds of things you expect during December, but nothing is going on. They may be cutting the work force because things are slow. Frankly, you guess is as good as mine…

I’ve actually been to both those places — the 2 towns look a lot alike to me 😛
Watertown, Mass is a suburb of Boston and has real Italian restaurants ….
