I never travel without a towel. It serves as a bib while eating in the car, a napkin, it can be used to dry off (gasp!), it can be used to cover a cooler so that the sun isn’t beating directly on it and causing my ice to melt too fast, etc.
A ground cloth, a blanket, a tent … never leave home without it.
Mine is old and well worn! I got it decades ago when I first read HHGTTG! It’s an official towel, with stains & everything! A few extra have been added. 😆

Mine has often served as a cushion in the bottom of a cat carrier, which always requires a wash afterwards. It is also handy for separating you from the fiberglass insulation if you have to work in the attic.
