Charlie Pierce is really bummed out because like most people with more than two working brain cells, he knew things like Charlotteville were going to happen when Trump was elected.
Digby points out that Trump doesn’t really have any reticence when it comes to complaining about people and organizations that annoy him, but he won’t say anything negative about Nazis and other white supremacists. These are people that would have no problem with including the Kushner family in their ‘final solution’, but he has them as advisors in the White House.
I was trying to identify one of the flags at the demonstration and came across the Political Flags of Extremism site, three pages of flags of whackoes from all over the world. Handy resource in the era of Drumpf, the SCROTUS.

I wish there were photo tools online to help ID these failed humans; their behavior would quickly modify if they knew that their communities would become aware of their attitudes and hateful ideas. Kind of like a roach invested house; turn on the light and they run and hide. Note that I did not mean to impugn roaches by describing a similar behavior. And they are described as failed humans and not as some male body part because just about any body part is useful: They aren’t.
The identification has been crowd-sourced and is proceeding. They will be ID’ed and their schools and/or employers will be notified. There is a lot of video and still images to look at and criminal charges may be forth-coming. The local courts are in a mess because someone from the local public defender’s office was involved in at least the crowd ramming incident, so the court is having to appoint local attorneys for any defendants involved in the disturbances.
These so-called humans converged on Charlottesville from all over, One already identified is a student from the University of Nevada Reno campus. The terrorist operator of the vehicle is from Ohio. What business is it of outsiders that the government of a town in Virginia wants to relocate a statue. That’s an issue for the local electorate. I think the decision is a good one, but I don’t think my opinion is worth much because I don’t live there.
I just wish these low-lifes had waited for the afterglow of my vacation to fade before doing their Nazi cr*p. Instead, I come back to civilization and what do I find? Nazis. F’ing Nazis. Doing what F’ing Nazis do. GAH.
There’s several Twitter accounts that are trying to identify all the low-lifes who were there. YesYouAreRacist appears to be the one getting the most press right now, with several of the Nazis who’ve been featured there being identified and facing consequences.
This one is particularly cold. One of the Nazi low-lifes has now been effectively disowned by his entire extended family. In North Dakota. Which, given how inbred those towns are, means that if he comes to town, nobody will serve him, nobody will talk to him, store owners will close their door if he approaches their place of business, etc. They know how to do a good ole’ fashioned shunning there.

With all of the video and stills from the area, it will take a while, but people are going to be held accountable because they felt empowered by Trump and didn’t conceal their identities. There are pictures and videos of the crimes and the criminals. They will be prosecuted because it will be easy for prosecutors to win. They may have to change venues on some of the cases, because Heather Heyer was a paralegal at a local law firm as well as a local waitress, so getting legal representation for the defendants and seating a jury is going to be difficult in Charlottesville.
NAZI flags, the scum were carrying NAZI flags as well as the flag of the Army of Tennessee and their various groups. My Dad and uncles dropped bombs on NAZIs, drove tanks over them, and shot them. This crap was supposed to be over. Now we have a resident of the White House who has to be forced into condemning NAZIs after they murder an American citizen in the US.
Regarding the monuments:
Monuments glorifying monsters belong in museums or academic settings where they can be put into their proper historical context, not out in public settings. These Confederate generals and politicians who fought to preserve the right to own human beings were monsters, and should be treated as such. It’d be as if there were monuments to Hitler in every public square in Germany.Well, these monsters killed more Americans than Hitler did. Who could possibly defend that?
Trump is inadvertently forcing States & Cities to take action and belatedly do some good. It’s a small start…

The monuments were put up to terrorize black people. It is the same reason they have torchlight marches – to invoke fear. If the event was about the statue in Charlottesville there would have probably been a visible local presence among the Nazi demonstrators. If they were just ‘concerned citizens’ they wouldn’t have showed up with AR-15s, bats, clubs, and other weapons. Those suckers are lucky that the majority of World War II vets have died, or they would have faced more than sticks and stones for carrying a Nazi flag. If they want monuments, let them finance a museum to put them in. Monuments to treason in civic centers is not a good idea.
Chinese tourists just got arrested for giving Nazi salutes in Berlin. The Germans have made everything Nazi illegal.
Actions like Charlottesville are just advancing plans to get rid of the monuments. Maryland wasn’t in the Confederacy, so the presence of monuments there was certainly not part of history, it was simply about hate.
Agree. I saw that about the Chinese arrested in Germany. I did a WTF double take. Why do so many want in on the NAZI train? Does nobody know any history? Especially as any NAZI party would just use Chinese as slaves. People are truly insane.
