Are You Having Fun Yet?

I hope the people who voted for Teump enjoy having all of the vermin in this country come and strut around like they own it.

Charlie Pierce is really bummed out because like most people with more than two working brain cells, he knew things like Charlotteville were going to happen when Trump was elected.

Digby points out that Trump doesn’t really have any reticence when it comes to complaining about people and organizations that annoy him, but he won’t say anything negative about Nazis and other white supremacists. These are people that would have no problem with including the Kushner family in their ‘final solution’, but he has them as advisors in the White House.

I was trying to identify one of the flags at the demonstration and came across the Political Flags of Extremism site, three pages of flags of whackoes from all over the world. Handy resource in the era of Drumpf, the SCROTUS.

Cognitive Dissonance

Drumpf calls up the governor of Guam to tell him that the threat of being nuked by North Korea could BOOST TOURISM?!. Drumpf also says that he is behind Guam ‘1000%’, although he really meant ‘8000 miles’.

Last night a group of Alt Right/Neo-Nazis dressed in chinos and polo shirts marched on the University of Virginia campus at Charlottesville after dark carrying tiki torches and chanted “Jew will not replaces us” and “Blood and Soil”. In the original German, Blood and Soil [Blut und Boden] was the motto of the Nazi Ministry of Food and Agriculture. It comes from the title of a book advocating eugenics and living in the rural areas. If that is what the marchers were actually advocating they need to do a lot more marching and lift some weights after they switch to jeans, chambray work shirts, and seed or tractor company baseball hats. [They looked like the guys who man booths at trade shows.]

At today’s main event things turned tragic: Charlottesville: One killed amid violence over US far-right rally. A human being was murdered and dozens injured by an individual using a motor vehicle. The act was recorded and there is no chance of it being anything other than an intentional terrorist attack on the people opposing the alt-Right/neo-Nazi/KKK rally.

Dealing With Dingbats

Via Charlie Pierce, Drumpf on Putin at his press conference:

“I want to thank him because we’re trying to cut down our payroll, and as far as I’m concerned I’m very thankful that he let go of a large number of people because now we have a smaller payroll. There’s no real reason for them to go back. I greatly appreciate the fact that we’ve been able to cut our payroll of the United States. We’re going to save a lot of money.”

Via Media Matters, Fox News anchor says the the media is showing a double standard by expecting more of Trump than from Kim Jong-Un 😈

I wonder – if I was a North Korean general responsible for the demonstration of force by firing four missiles to land off Guam, I would scheduled it a week or so later to give the ship with the four explosive charges that would indicate success time to reach the area off Guam. Four missiles would be fired from North Korea, and then there would be four explosions in the sea off Guam. The record of North Korean success is not great, and Kim will definitely get upset if the missiles fail.

Wait, you’re saying, won’t intel know that the launch and the explosions are unrelated? “Fake News!” just like the White House…

A Real Signal

Colonel Bateman at Charlie Pierce’s place has identified a signal that things have gone critical with North Korea. He says, and I believe him, that if General Mattis resigns as Secretary of Defense in the near future and/or General McMaster resigns as National Security Advisor, it is probable that Drumpf wants an overt act against North Korea.

If Drumpf orders a strike against North Korea that is not a response to an actual attack, the truce that has held since 1953 will be over and thousands, if not millions of people will soon die. It is up to Pence and the Cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment to prevent World War III, but Congress needs to act to repeal the blank check “Authorization for the Use of Military Force” that they gave to the Shrubbery. Declaring war is a specific function of the Congress, and the possibility of a President like Drumpf is the reason.

The Descent Into Madness

Drumpf is doing his best to restart the Korean War. The 25th Amendment is there for a reason.

In response to his own panel’s call for a declaration of an emergency, Trump pledges action, stepped-up enforcement to combat opioid abuse, because people can’t get drugs in prison, so there will be no addiction.

Sorry, Senator Hatch, but you can’t eliminate the Beavis and Butthead mentality of some people who can’t resist letting the rest of the world know their problem. A quick primer on what Senator Hatch was referring to in his comment, which is the equivalent of saying they were ‘shooting blanks’.

A brief explanation of why the new grand jury is in DC. Mueller really didn’t have a choice under Federal procedure.

Good News

From CNN: “Martin Shkreli, who gained national notoriety two years ago for jacking up the price of an AIDS drug, was convicted of securities fraud Friday for mismanaging two investment funds.”

He won’t believe it until he hears that door go ‘clang!’
