This is the centennial of Glorious October Revolution [25 October in the Russian Empire which was using the Julian calendar at the time]. There were a lot of lessons that could be learned from the rise and fall of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. Some of those lessons involve the effects of having ignorant amateurs at the controls of government, but people don’t seem interested.

Yeah, whenever someone starts shouting about revolution, I point them towards the glorious revolutions of the 20th century and the marvelous outcomes from them — the millions killed, the countries invaded, the peoples suppressed under vicious tyranny, etc. Revolution is overrated.
The vast majority of revolutions are fomented by children of privilege with not a lot to do who have decided that they have a better idea that will ‘help the people’. No one ever seems to think that asking ‘the people’ what they want is a good idea.
