Happy Hanukkah!

Hanukkah in Hebrew

MenorahHappy Hanukkah to my Jewish friends. I miss the latkes and jelly doughnuts my roommates received for the holiday at college. [Their grandmothers were afraid they wouldn’t celebrate or couldn’t get “real” food at that terrible Baptist university.] It was a great break.

One of the nice things about Hanukkah is that there are established “gifts”, so you don’t have to rack your brains about what to get: a card and gelt covers just about everyone.

General background at Wikipedia’s entry for Hanukkah and even more at Chabad’s Chanukah page.

[Note: on the Jewish calendar the day changes at sundown, not midnight.]

Thought I post this here as there were no comments yet. 🙂

Been quite awhile since I posted anything about really good s/w going cheap, and this is one I’ve mentioned before (well, 3 products to be exact!)

It’s the WinPatrol Ultimate Bundle with a Lifetime License for 1/3/5 PC’s

(The deal actually started on the 21st, but I’ve been too busy to check my eMail for the past few days. Still 1 day to go before it expires!)

normally US$199.95/$245.95/$299.95, for the next 20 hours they are offering 90% discount via Bits DuJure! I have NEVER seen it this cheap! NO renewals ever!

It includes WinPatrol WAR, WinPatrol Plus & WinPatrol Firewall for Win XP SP3 to Win 10. (detailed product info @ above link).

You can also buy the individual products discounted if you prefer.

The BDJ promotion includes the following choices:

Ultimate Bundle – 1 Computer Lifetime License v2017 ($19.99)
Ultimate Bundle – 3 Computers Lifetime License v2017 ($24.99)
Ultimate Bundle – 5 Computers Lifetime License ($29.99)

WinPatrol PLUS – 1 Computer Lifetime License ($6.99)
WinPatrol PLUS – 3 Computers Lifetime License ($9.99)
WinPatrol PLUS – 5 Computers Lifetime License ($11.99)

WinPatrol WAR – 1 Computer Lifetime License ($8.99)
WinPatrol WAR – 3 Computers Lifetime License ($11.99)
WinPatrol WAR – 5 Computers Lifetime License ($13.99)

WinPatrol Firewall – 1 Computer Lifetime License ($6.99)
WinPatrol Firewall – 3 Computers Lifetime License ($9.99)
WinPatrol Firewall – 5 Computers Lifetime License ($11.99)

Bits DuJure WinPatrol Lifetime Ultimate Bundle

I’ve been using WinPatrol about 15 years. Never had any trouble with it (that wasn’t Windows fault!)

Also, Steganos Online Shield VPN is available for free for 12 Months via a techradar/CHIP (DE) deal. Just need to enter an eMail address & Steganos will send the serial number & d/l link. I only use this or Cyberghost.

Steganos Online Shield VPN v1.6.x (100% discount)

They do this every year, so you can practically have it for as long as they make the offer! I’ve never paid for it since 2013 (normally US$99/yr). *shrug*

Anyway, just thought someone might find it useful. 😀

Have a great xmas/Hanukkah/Hogswatch break all!

I went for the 5 machine deal mostly to protect the XT box I still need. When the need disappears, it will be a Linux Mate box. Thanks for the tip.

Glad you got it in time. 🙂 I got the Ultimate 3 bundle. For PC, Laptop & Tablet.

I got a call yesterday morning from a Neighbourhood House I used to volunteer @ up until a couple years ago. I did the xmas lunch & dinner a couple times. The lady who was going to do this years cancelled & everyone else they tried was already busy, so I was a last resort (we didn’t leave on good terms!)

The House is run by a Church group (I forget which, Anglicare or one of those) & are the stingiest bunch of tight-arses I’ve ever met!)

I decided to do it for the Homeless, elderly & poor that deserve a good feed. They hadn’t organised much @ all! So I spent all day yesterday & today running around begging, arm twisting & emotional blackmail (which I REALLY hate) to get food etc. for the meals (they usually serve about 30-50 meals @ Xmas). Local Butcher is providing 2 spit’s free & gave 60% discount on 2 sides of lamb & a pork. A few Supermarkets are providing Chickens, few Turkeys & a bunch of other things, 2 local bakeries providing bread, fruit mince pies & got 6 Xmas puddings & some Pavlovas for desert. Various snack foods & drinks. Dairy is providing cream, ice cream, custard & brandy custard… Luckily, the House was renovated last year & the Kitchen had a badly needed upgrade! (one of our major disagreements was the poor state of the previous kitchen)! They even put in a good large commercial grade oven & cook tops & a walk in fridge Freezer. I’ll start all the prep tomorrow & make the deserts that need chilling overnight. Got a discount from a rental company for food warmers & other things needed.

I managed to get the total bill down to about $350. I also got about $140 in donations to cover some of it ($50 from me). So they better not bloody whinge or I’ll seriously knock them out! I am buggered already! Getting too old for this crap. Still… I just focus on the people who need this. I made damned sure the Manager knew I wasn’t doing it for her! *shrug* 🙂

And I thought I was going to be bored this Xmas! Now I’ll just be bloody exhausted! 😆 I know some of them will be old regulars @ the House, it’ll be good to see them again. 😀

The main problems with ‘Christian’ churches and organizations is that they have taken their lead from a Roman trained tax collector instead if a Jewish carpenter. Helping people is what it is about. Giving anonymously is the only way to rack up points for your final debriefing.

Enjoy the people and ignore the assholes – that has gotten me through a lot of holiday shifts without shooting anybody.
