Very Interesting

Following the the old saw about “Even a blind hog might find an acorn”, when my Congresscritter Matt Gaetz started talking about a “cabal” at the FBI, I thought I would take a look. Now I don’t put a lot stock in the blitherings of frat bros, but something was bothering me about the Bureau.

There does seem to be an anomaly in the leadership of the FBI and its predecessors. In the 110 years of the existence of the organization there has never been a Democrat appointed to head the Bureau.

It’s time to bring in new leadership with a new philosophy and appoint someone like Eric Scheiderman, the current attorney general of New York. That would certainly refocus the Bureau on catching criminals. 😈

Ooooh, good catch! And I fully agree. Think about what a democratic director could find in those 110 year old republican closets! Dibs on J. Edgar’s clutch purse!

It is more than passing strange that there has never been a Democratic Director of the FBI. For the Republicans to be attacking the most Republican of executive agencies rings rather hollow.

3 JuanitaM { 03.21.18 at 4:39 pm }

You just raised my eyebrows. I had no idea there had never been a Democratic Director, but that says a lot. I’m not sure what exactly, lol, but it is definitely odd that the Republicans are now attacking the FBI since he’s basically their man and their department. Curiouser and curiouser.

Did you see where one of the Fox News commentators resigned? He was one of the group of Republican retired military officers that Fox courts assuming that they will agree with all things Republican. Except this one gave a scathing resignation letter calling Fox News a “propaganda machine for this administration” which is common knowledge to all but Fox News. They drink the Kool-Aid. Not being self reflective, they can’t see themselves for what they are.

It took Colonel Peters long enough to figure out that Faux News was an agitprop operation for the GOP. He was a military analyst for the network, so he wasn’t directly involved in the politics for the most part. Trump is a ‘bridge too far’ for the military.

For whatever reason Democratic Presidents tend to appoint Republican Secretaries of Defense, and FBI Directors. I knew that was the pattern during my life, so I checked and sure enough, no Democrat has ever been appointed. That would make ambitious young agents register as Republicans to conform to the Bureau. It is also reason for the majority of military officers registering as Republicans. [I know the jobs are supposed to be non-political, but life doesn’t work like that…}

5 JuanitaM { 03.22.18 at 10:17 am }

I agree, it took him long enough. I think he decided that he had followed the Republican party to the point of insanity and that wasn’t a road he wanted to be seen crossing. Had this been a Democratic president, the Republicans would have been impeaching right and left. Many would have to be hospitalized for apoplexy. Mr. Peters decided to beat a hasty retreat before the limb he’d climbed out on was sawed off behind him.

Still, it’s good to see him make a stand. It’s more than most are doing. You can tell that Paul Ryan knows what a crazy nut job this president is, but he still stands there with his superior smirk that says “we won, and we don’t care how”. Winning is all, it seems, even if it means an elected official with no morals, several personality disorders, and who is willing to commit any sort of fraud, crime, cover-up, etc. Hillary had her issues, we all know, but she would have the moral high ground compared to this one.

6 Bryan { 03.22.18 at 12:47 pm }

Speaking of winning, Paul Ryan has not announced that he is running for reelection. He has a strong opponent who has been running in the district for a while, and he can get a better deal as a commentator as a retired Speaker of the House, than as a loser. Even if he won his seat it looks like the House will be in Democratic hands next year. If that happens he will not get a leadership position.

We have already seen the reaction to a weak tea version of Trump’s conduct in the Clinton outrage.

And things can definitely get worse:

Dotard announced this (on Twitter of course) a few hours ago:

“I am pleased to announce that, effective 4/9/18, @AmbJohnBolton will be my new National Security Advisor. I am very thankful for the service of General H.R. McMaster who has done an outstanding job & will always remain my friend. There will be an official contact handover on 4/9.”

*shrug*

8 Bryan { 03.22.18 at 9:50 pm }

It took the schmuck in the White House 14 months to find the worst possible choice for a National Security Advisor in the world (who isn’r a native Russian speaker). Bolton’s solution for all problems is to start a war and get a lot of innocent people killed. Drumpf is looking for advisors, he want courtiers who will tell him how wonderful he is without bringing up reality.

Bolton has the only qualification that Drumpf cares about: he appears on Fox News.

OT: Welcome back. I was concerned that you were caught up in the bushfires, because the north is where the cyclones are hitting. Of course I have been fixated on a sled dog race which you probably aren’t interested in. It is better than watching the soap opera in DC.

9 Kryten42 { 03.23.18 at 4:00 am }

Sorry … It has been awhile! I’ve had a lot happening in several areas, still a few things to deal with. MoBo died for one (been using my laptop & tablet). I’ve been expecting it. it’s been flakey the past 4-5 Months.

Even though it has a 3 yr warranty & still has 6 mths to go… Gigabyte are being total dicks which I expected. They have the worst customer service in the biz. I don’t want to buy a new one now. Next gen products will be coming out in ~6 mths & I’ll wait a few for them to stabilize.

The supplier I bought the MoBo from will sell me an ASRock Fatal1ty Z270 Gaming K4 @ cost. About $125. Not a bad deal. 🙂 I can’t use a Z370 based Mobo as I’d also have to buy a new 8th Gen CPU. Screw that! I told them my next build will be AMD based on their next gen TR CPU’s coming out.

Also lost Internet for a week as I upgraded my NBN plan to unlimited 50/20 Mbps (NBN Co were forced to sell the plan for the same price as the 25/10 Mbps plan & drop the price of that. So it won’t cost me any extra, except another $10/mth for changing from 500 GB to unlimited. 🙂

Had some health stuff to deal with also of course. *shrug*

Here’s a spot of good news:

Summons issued to Trump in case alleging he is violating emoluments clause

And this was my best laugh of the week! He’s correct I believe! 😀

‘They’re gonna gut these guys’: Rick Wilson brutally describes what Mueller’s team will do to Trump’s remaining lawyers

Enjoy! 😆

I hope all is well with you & Juanita and everyone else! I’ll try not to go AWOL for so long next time. I’ll drop a note next time. 😉

10 Bryan { 03.23.18 at 8:41 pm }

We are all familiar with “real life intrudes” and it sounds like it was driving a lorry when it hit you. Your weather and fire season are both looking nasty down under, so I suspected an infrastructure problem.

After a rough patch in February I’m back to normal. Yes, Trump is definitely in violation of the emoluments clause, but you have to find a court willing to take the case. It sounds like the attorney generals of DC and Maryland have a stronger case to file the suit than the one that was attempted in New York. The case he should really be sweating is the defamation case. He can be forced to give a deposition and he always lies. If you lie, you lose. It has happened to him before.

Wilson is right. As far as attorneys go, Trump’s side is a local amateur team trying to play the Brazil or German national football side. Mueller has seasoned Federal prosecutors. They don’t leak, and they don’t take prisoners.

11 Kryten42 { 03.23.18 at 11:35 pm }

Yes. As one get’s older, real life sucks more. 😆 😉

Glad you got your stuff sorted.

The fires here in Vic were caused by faulty electrical infrastructure. Most have been over the past decade or so. But privatization is a *Good thing*! The privatization fairy waves his magic want & just makes everything work! No need to actually waste their ill gotten gains on maintenance or services. That’s silly!

Like that tragic bridge collapse there in Florida! And that was a fairly new bridge! “They don’t make them like they used to” indeed! Guarantee they cut corners & used low grade materials. new bridges don’t just collapse if they are made properly & well.

My money is definitely on Mueller! 😀

12 Kryten42 { 03.24.18 at 3:27 am }

“magic want” –> “Magic wand”

Jeez! I forgot how much I HATE the damned moronic Android auto-correct! Have to put quotes around everything to stop it!

I hear thunder on the horizon. Storm coming. I’ll probably loose power for an hour or so. Almost always do! My UPS is good for about 40 mins on laptop/NAS/Router (on the PC about 15 min’s, but that’s dead). But I have a spare battery for laptop & tablet and a 11 & 21 AH battery power pack. But they don’t do anything for the NAS or Router. 😉

13 Bryan { 03.24.18 at 12:09 pm }

Apple’s iOS ‘predictive typing’ system is no better, although my phone is getting better than the iPad because I text frequently.

Yeah, up in the San Francisco area Pacific Gas and Electric raise their prices for natural gas to pay for maintenance and system upgrades which they then didn’t do and they got a few houses blown up and people killed when when a gas line broke and exploded. In San Diego I refused to install a computer and modem set up in a printing shop because I had extension cords in my truck that were larger than the electrical service coming into that building. You can’t run typesetting machines and an office with 60 amp service. San Diego Gas & Electric only updated after the fires, not on a regular basis.

There was a last minute change that moved a support structure on that bridge. It is possible that the change caused the brand new bridge to crack and then snap. They had been tensioning the support cables hours prior to the failure. The bridge was preassembled on the side and then swung into position across the road at night. It was pedestrian bridge and had never been opened for use.

14 JuanitaM { 03.24.18 at 1:30 pm }

I really do like my Android phone, but not so much the predictive typing, Bryan. I use it a lot, but it doesn’t get any better so far as I can tell.

Yeah, when I heard Bolton was getting the position, my eyes just rolled back in my head. This is a man that has never met a war he didn’t like, and I don’t know about you, but there is something in this man’s personality that just seems a little…well…bent. And this is the person that we supposed to depend on for our highest national security position? We are so screwed.

It’s snowing like hell here and we expect about 8 inches before it heads out. Then weirdly we should have 60 degree temperatures next week. Kryten’s having thunderstorms, lol, so what’s happening in your neck of the woods, Bryan. Lot of weather going on here. But it’s beautiful as I look out my window. There’s such a whiteout that I can’t even see the mountains behind my house. I have a nice winter view, and I could have a summer view if I had the heart to cut several poplars behind the house.

15 Bryan { 03.24.18 at 8:42 pm }

I think the Apple is adding words to its dictionary if you insist on the spelling. If the phone doesn’t recognize a word it puts it in quotes. if you select the word in quotes it becomes part of the system. I had to manual add things to my Samsung, before I said to hell with it and turned the spelling checker off.

Trump thought that Bolton was totally unsuited for any position back in the Bush administration because he was a war monger, and now Trump wants war mongers. Bolton may have changed in a decade out of government but I doubt it.

We get rain and cooling along the coast when these fronts swing through, but we bounce back to the 70s after a couple of days. Further inland they get severe weather and flooding flooding, but not on the coast.

If they aren’t affecting your foundation, you should never consider chopping down healthy trees that are native to your area. One of the big problems down here is that people clear cut land before building and then bring in invasive trees like sugarberries and Chinese tallow/popcorn trees because they are fast growing. Sugarberries do grow in the South, but they require good soil and a lot of water. We have neither along the coast because the sand drains so quickly.

I have been enjoying the flowers.

16 Kryten42 { 03.25.18 at 5:44 am }

It’s still raining, but the storm passed late last night. Amazingly, only lost power for about 25 min’s. That’s a record!

The kids are getting incredibly good at making the Politicians & NRA look really bad! Just a couple examples:

Twitter only video (there may be other copies on regular news sources.) Check the comments below. Most are as expected from the RW morons & NRA trolls. My comments also there.
Dear Congress, how can you claim to stand for the people but let your kids get slaughtered like animals in their own schools?

This young lass was awesome!
11-year-old speaks up for the black girls whose stories don’t make the front page

As for Bolton… I hope The Hill is correct!
John Bolton is already a lame duck — and he knows it

And… Dottard’s Stormy affair is getting HUUUUUGE! 😆 Gonna need a LOT of popcorn! 😉
https://edition.cnn.com/2018/03/23/politics/stormy-daniels-lawyer-dvd-tweet/index.html

17 Bryan { 03.25.18 at 1:44 pm }

The ‘young lass’ was Naomi Wadler, an elementary school student from Alexandria, Virginia, and she was ‘awesome’ indeed.

Bolton probably said something negative about Putin which is the proximate cause for McMaster and Tillerson being fired. Trump is terrified of Putin. I suspect that if Russians withdrew their funding, Trump Inc will dissolve.

Stormy Daniels is embarrassing, but the defamation law suit of Summer Zervos is the larger legal problem because it will mean that Trump is going to be deposed under oath and he will lie. Of course if Melania decides to divorce him, then all bets are off. The circus will need a bigger tent.

What amazes me is the people who claim the kids are actors or pawns of adults, then complain when the kids do things that show they are kids, like yell when they want to be heard in a crowd or at a sports event despite having a mike in front of them. They also use some crude language, like Trump.

The guy who wants to blame the FBI and the Broward Sheriff needs to learn about jurisdiction and the laws of arrest. The FBI had no jurisdiction to do anything, and Cruz hadn’t violated any laws before he started shooting people. Maybe if Congress would pass a few laws that didn’t restrict the ability of law enforcement to do anything about guns, we might have a reduction in gun violence.

The kids don’t have jobs or anything else that the NRA can threaten them with. They have been in their first fire fight, so the NRA would have to find a threat greater than getting gunned down to scare these kids. Ain’t going to happen.

18 Kryten42 { 03.27.18 at 1:36 am }

Yes. I know her name is Naomi Wadler and her Mom is Julie and they are originally from Ethiopia. Naomi had a huge day but is so down to Earth, most of the big names she met didn’t have a huge impact, though she treated them all with the dignity and aplomb of a veteran. She doesn’t use social media and watches the news with her family. Amazing. One of my favorite quotes from Naomi is:

“People have said I”m a tool for some adult. It’s not true.”
“… I am here today to honor the words of Toni Morrison: ‘If there is book you want to read but no one has written it, you must be the one to write it.'”

Of course the Dotard/NRA lovers are fairly uneducated and behave like Dotard. I’ve been tweeting with some dude calling himself Tobacco Joe. Guess where he stands? 😉 😆 He does the typical retweeting of the same mantra over and over in slightly different ways, claiming I’m not answering him so I must be wrong! I keep laughing @ him and point to my first comment way above where I did, in fact, reply to his made up BS! I said all he’s doing is totally embarrassing himself, but please continue as we all need a good laugh! And several T friends chimed in and agreed. So he went apeshit and said he wanted us to die & other threats of violence. Which was what my friends and I expected, so we reported him and his account is banned. They are sooooo easy! I suppose one day I’ll get bored baiting them… But for now it’s too much fun! 😀

A good update here:
The story behind 11-year-old Naomi Wadler and her March for Our Lives speech

19 Bryan { 03.27.18 at 8:14 pm }

Naomi is at an age where she isn’t too impressed with anything yet. The hormones will kick in shortly and she will figure it out. She believes and cares which is why politicians should be worried.

The Congress still doesn’t get it – people are getting fed up with being ignored. The line “The only thing easier to buy than a gun in US is a politician” is hitting home. None of the Rights in the Bill of Rights are absolute. You can’t use your rights to violate mine.

They aren’t uneducated, they are willfully ignorant. If they are online they have access to the facts and the truth from multiple sources, but they would rather believe the bullshit from friends at the bar who find excuses for their lousy lives. They are looking for excuses, not answers. They don’t want to take responsibility for their own bad choices, they want to blame someone else.

They are marks, and Trump is enough of a con man to get them to believe that he is a successful businessman instead of someone who inherited his business and hasn’t managed to spend all of his inheritance yet. He tells them what they want to hear and convinces them that he can solve all of the country’s problems.

Hell, Trump can’t even find a lawyer. How worthless do you have to be to not be able to find a lawyer willing to represent you? He has struck out in Washington and in Chicago. He knows better than to look in New York. This is what happens when you don’t listen to your lawyers and don’t pay them if you don’t like what they tell you.

20 Kryten42 { 03.30.18 at 11:19 am }

All true.

I’ve been tweeting the past few days about Dotard’s Lawyer problems. I used this article/vid:
An unheard-of problem: The President can’t find a lawyer

Some good news. The old Fox bobblehead Laura Ingraham attacked David Hog, forgetting he’s a legal age child! Oops! So a Twitter/FB boycott started calling on he advertisers to stop supporting her program. And several have!

Laura Ingraham’s Elitist Attack on David Hogg Backfires – Show Faces Cancellation Threat

Oh! And via WAPO: LeBron James has filed a lawsuit tonight against @IngrahamAngIe and @Foxnews for defamation for her comment he should just dribble, meaning blacks can’t understand politics. 😆 All in one day! I’d say her luck is all gone.

One of the Parkland students, Jaclyn Corin, is calling for Rep. Randy fine (53 district, South Brevard county) to be voted out. He originally supported firearm restriction amendments in FL, but now is filing bills that repeal the firearm age raise to 21, waiting period, and ban of bump stocks in FL. Probably the NRA got to him.

Lastly… I found a great, though lengthy, rant on several current topics on dKos! I haven’t stopped laughing! 😆
Y’all Can Have Roseanne, I’m Content Watching Laura Ingraham Get Dragged All Over the Internet

21 Bryan { 03.30.18 at 5:12 pm }

No one knows if Laura Ingraham followers should be called “Ingraham Crackers” or “Lorons”. I would lean towards the first as I’m fairly certain they are “Crackers” in the Southern sense of the word. [You may not be familiar with the US delicacy: Graham crackers, a type of cookie/biscuit.]

I have covered the lawyer problem. He shouldn’t have involved so many people in his crimes that they used up the local supply of lawyers. It would also help if he had always paid his attorneys. Lawyers don’t mind representing the guilty, but they want to be paid, and they want to be listened to. Dowd left because Trump wouldn’t listen and Trump may have wanted Dowd to perjure himself.

I hope Ingraham can get a lawyer 😈
