Iditarod 2019 – Day 8
According to Sebastian Schnuelle at Kaltag: lots of wet snow and overflows [water over the ice] on the river. The temperature is in the mid 30s. The snow is deep and teams will have to break trail from Eagle Island to Kaltag and on to Unalakleet.
Emily Maxwell (18) and Marcelle Fressineau (27) both scratched at Iditarod “for the good of their teams.” The trail conditions are “warm & wet” with occasional rain in addition to wet snow.
