Elijah Cummings reminded me of one of my favorite all time role models who happened to be in Congress, Barbara Jordan. If you have never heard her Speech on Impeachment during the Watergate hearings, hie thee hence and listen. If God is a woman, She would sound like Barbara Jordan. Elijah Cummings is well named and may yet return like the original of that name to deal with evil doers. Hours before his passing he signed more subpoenas.

Elijah Cummings was an incredible man. I remember him well blogging on Loaded Mouth during the shrubbery (Bush Jr.) years. He was always active, always sane, always fighting for the rights of all. The World is lesser for his loss. Pelosi gave a deserving tribute:

I’m also sure that the GOP & Trump will say the usual meaningless drivel for a Man they all hated. Because he always tried to keep the record about what they did
honest & real.
He was a real servant of the people, a politician in the best sense of the word. He grew into his name Elijah in the Congress standing for the moral no matter who was affected. He knew what was right and did not waver from the path. He was a mensch.
