Broadway is dark. All Smithsonian museums are shut. All Universal theme parks are closed. The Mouse has shut down Disneyland and Disneyworld. There will be no fans allowed at NASCAR races and the Australian Grand Prix has been cancelled. The NBA, MLS, MLB, NHL has postponed all games. The NCAA has cancelled all sports including March Madness. California wants no events over 250, New York allows 500 or half of the fire marshal limit – whichever is smaller.
Prime Minister Trudeau of Canada and his wife are under quarantine. The President of Brazil and his immediate staff are under quarantine. Trump may have had contact with a COVID-19 victim at CPAC, and is pictured standing next to the Brazilian press secretary who has tested positive for COVID-19.
The only reason we don’t know what is going on is because the FUBAR introduction of test kits from the Trump administration. South Korea tests more people every day than the US has tested so far.
Folks, the Iditarod just postponed the “Meet the Mushers” and Awards Banquet in Nome for this year’s race. These people don’t tend to overreact.
Oh, about the Covid virus going away with warmer weather, the weather is warmer in Australia as it is the end of summer in the Southern Hemisphere and they have the virus down there.

there are a lot of conspiracy theories, as expected. Seems the main one for now, and being pushed by China, Iran & Russia (big surprise) is that the US Army infected China with COVID-19 during the October 2019 17th CISM Military World Games in Wuhan. 15-20+ years ago I could see that as a possibility… But now, with GOP/Trump? Doubtful, for a long list of reasons. Although, the US Military & CIA have largely been left alone & do plan long term. Regardless, I’ve not heard nor seen any evidence to support any of the conspiracies floating around, though I’m out of the loop these days. *shrug*

Actually the reports are a reaction to Fox News making a major effort to blame China in order to stir up the xenophobia in the Trump/Republican/Whacko audience. Trump’s re-election is taking a hit from the totally FUBAR reaction of the Mango Moron to the virus. Trump isn’t leading, he is reacting to the actions of the stock markets, the states, and the professional sports leagues who are taking the threat seriously. As you say, I wouldn’t put this past the CIA under Reagan or the Bushes, but the US has backed down based on the reaction to the Bush/Cheney lies to support the Iraq invasion. We also tightened up controls after the anthrax threat under W.
Morrison really seems to wandering rather than heading for a goal. I’ve noticed that “pundits” have started making unflattering comparisons between his and Kevin Rudd’s crisis management. Between the bushfires and COVID-19 the Coalition may be eying new leadership.
