Le Tour 2020 – Stage 10
Île d’Oléron Le Château-d’Oléron > Île de Ré Saint-Martin-de-Ré
Distance: 168.5 kilometers.
A “Flat” stage that stays between 1 and 16 meters above sea level for its entire length. After the drubbing they experienced in the last two stages, the sprinters can make up some of their lost time. The intermediate sprint is at 129.5 km at Châtelaillon-Plage.
Lots of wind and crashes. Domenico Pozzovivo didn’t start because of injuries he received in the demolition derby on Stage 1. Samuel Bewley had to withdraw when he broke his wrist in a crash. While Davide Formolo finished today’s stage, he is out for the rest of the Tour with a broken collarbone.
Sam Bennett won the stage and the Green. He has now won a stage in the three major road races: Le Tour de France, Giro d’Italia, and La Vuelta.

Note: Wikipedia has a simple article on the Mountain classification used on the Tour. The basic fact is that climbs fall into five types, with the four numbered types decreasing in difficulty as the numbers get larger, and then there is the Hors Catégorie, literally “without category”, which generally makes you look for an elevator or Sherpas.
Go to the CATEGORIES drop-down box below the CALENDAR and select “Le Tour” for all of the posts related to the race on this site.
