Tropical Storm Wind Radius: 115 miles [185 km].

Currently about 140 miles [ 220 km] West-Southwest of Camaguey, Cuba.

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the Cuban provinces of Camaguey, Ciego de Avila, Sancti Spiritus, Villa Clara, Cienfuegos, and Matanzas; the northwestern Bahamas, including the Abacos, Andros Island, Berry Islands, Bimini, Eleuthera, Grand Bahama Island, and New Providence; the Florida coast from Brevard/Volusia County line to Englewood, including Florida Bay; the Florida Keys from Ocean Reef to the Dry Tortugas; Lake Okeechobee.

A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for the Cuban provinces of La Habana, Artemisa y Mayabeque, Pinar del Rio and the Isle of Youth; the Florida coast from north of Englewood to Anna Maria Island.

A Storm Surge Watch is in effect for the Florida coast from Golden Beach to Bonita Beach, including Biscayne Bay; the Florida Keys from Ocean Reef to the Dry Tortugas, including Florida Bay.

At 3PM CST Eta is making landfall just south of Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua.

Currently about 45 miles [ 75 km] East of Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua.

“The United States National Hurricane Center defines rapid intensification as an increase in the maximum sustained winds of a tropical cyclone of at least 30 knots (35 mph; 55 km/h) in a 24-hour period.”¹ Eta has gone from 75 mph at 3AM CST to 150 mph at 6PM, an increase of 75 mph in 15 hours.
