"It's better to be six feet apart right now than six feet under."
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer
"Blognito ergo sum!"
"Caedite eos! Novit enim Dominus qui sunt eius."
"Das war ein Vorspiel nur, dort wo man Bücher verbrennt, verbrennt man auch am Ende Menschen."
"Все счастливые семьи похожи друг на друга, каждая несчастливая семья несчастлива по-своему."
"Кто что ни говори, а подобные происшествия бывают на свете, - редко, но бывают."
"A person who has a cat by the tail knows a whole lot more about cats than someone who has just read about them."
Mark Twain
"There are two novels that can change a bookish 14-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."
"The presence of those seeking the truth is infinitely to be preferred to the presence of those who think they've found it."

happy wood dragon new year to you too, and thank you for this. it’s something i used to keep up with but have let slip these days (also just now noticed the gretchen whitmer quote in the sidebar — i have really been self-absorbed these past few years).
My younger brother was a DEC project manager who lived in Hong Kong for several years. The celebration closes Asia for more than a week as everyone returns to their family village/town and clogs all forms of transit. In the West Coast computer business you had to know when it was and stockpile before hand or you wouldn’t have machines to sell or parts to fix them. It didn’t hurt to put up some decorations to attract the contents of the “red envelops”
