According to this wire service report: Nepal airline sacrifices goats to appease sky god
KATHMANDU (Reuters) – Officials at Nepal’s state-run airline have sacrificed two goats to appease Akash Bhairab, the Hindu sky god, following technical problems with one of its Boeing 757 aircraft, the carrier said on Tuesday.
I wonder what Akash Bhairab would do for Northwest or Delta if they sacrificed their CEOs?

hindus are allowed to sacrifice animals? aren’t they vegetarians?
As long as they don’t eat them, sure.
I heard this story on NPR’s morning business report, and I’m seriously considering writing in to complain about the host’s, um, snide way of introducing the story. It may not be his faith (neither is it mine), but that doesn’t give him license to mock it.
People keep forgetting about all of the animal sacrifices that would take place if the Temple were rebuilt in Jerusalem. There are a lot of people who are very unhappy about the Christian Eucharist.
Dietary restrictions vary by caste, but high caste Hindus tend to be vegetarians. Not eating meat doesn’t mean they don’t kill animals. Most cultures tend to look down on eating humans, but it doesn’t stop wars.
Mocking Hindu practice is not a good policy if you might need to make customer service calls.
