From The Freezer To The Fridge
Finally, after two days, the temperature moved above freezing. It hasn’t reached 40°F yet, but the ‘sugar coating’ has melted from the landscape and the sun is shining.
Tomorrow it is supposed to reach the 60s and stay there all day, so I may finally warm up. I noticed that the three points on the Quest trail are all in single digits, so a somewhat normal winter has returned.
The activity on the blog will increase since I can take off the mittens for extended periods now.

And we have our 2nd week of severe heatwave this month
Pilot Heatwave Forecast for Australia
It’s crazy. The North of Australia, typically the hottest in Summer, is the coolest.
And people are seriously annoyed that our supposedly *Conservative* Coalition Gov. (Republicant’s to you) are denying climate change and have done nothing since the heatwaves we’ve had since 2009 (that preceded the “Black Saturday” fires). What a surprise.
Anger over spike in deaths during record Victorian heatwave
No… It’s quite *fathomable* actually! *shrug*
I looked at your weather maps and saw what I expected, a high pressure region holding off change over Southeastern Australia. Most people look for lows because they presage the changes and bring the precipitation, but it has been a persistent high pressure area in the Western US that has allowed the cold weather to drop down to the Gulf of Mexico, and the high pressure in Australia that has been blocking the necessary change for cooler weather in Victoria.
These things should be moving, but this year they are stalling and acting like walls, forcing the lows around them, and screwing up the regular weather patterns. Our ridge of high pressure has finally dissipated, so you need to start tracking yours to get a feel for when the weather will go back to a more normal pattern.
“From The Freezer To The Fridge”
… to the Oven: right now it’s a toasty 69°F in Houston, and is forecast to be 72°F before the afternoon is over. Ridiculous, isn’t it?
I’m in the 50s with 60s on tap for tomorrow, all because the wind shifted and is coming out of the South. Totally absurd.
