Not A Good Career Move
Brexit is certainly winnowing the field of political “leaders”. So far Cameron, “Boris Badenov/Drumpf-Lite” Johnson, and Nigel Farage are all getting while the getting is good and Brits can still vacation in Spain.
Turnbull is not getting the result he expected when he called the election in Australia. It still isn’t clear if anyone has a majority in Parliament.
Sending three suicide bombers into Saudi Arabia, especially the one to Medina at the end of Ramadan, is not an effective way of changing Muslim ‘hearts & minds’. OTOH, the Bangladeshis shouldn’t be surprised that the terrorists who attacked the restaurant in Dhaka were from upper middle-class families – most terrorists are. Poor people can’t afford to be terrorists.

Most Palestinian terrorists are poor. But that’s because their family gets a large bounty from the actual terrorists if the sad sack angry kid with no job and no hope dons a suicide vest and goes and blows himself up at some Israeli checkpoint. Now that I think about it, this also describes most of ISIS, most of ISIS is not true believers, most ISIS fighters are people who’ve been told that a) they get paid if they fight for ISIS, and b) if they don’t fight for ISIS, they and all their family will be killed. The “true believers” use their money to avoid having to get their own hands dirty.
The ‘cannon fodder’ is always poor, but the leaders are always well-off and well-educated. Young idealists can be conned into acts of ‘martyrdom’, but most do it to provide for their families.
Yeah, the poor are always too busy trying to keep a roof over their head and food in their stomachs to care one whit about ideological BS. Ideological BS always comes from people who are well off enough to have time to spend on that kind of nonsense.
