Blogging Will Be Scattered
I have cataract surgery scheduled this week, so I may be off line a bit.
I wasn’t concerned by this, but then I lost my wallet on Wednesday and my printer died today, so the stars aren’t really in alignment. All this is not really more than annoying. I can afford the medical care thanks to Medicare, and the printer has worked well for 4 years. I didn’t travel two thousand miles to escape an existential threat only to have my children kidnapped by uniformed thugs employed by a supposedly civilized country.
My online time will be limited by putting 4 different eye drops in my eyes: a prednisone, an anti-inflammatory, an anti-fungal agent, and an anti-bacterial agent. The fun bit is that you are awake and get to watch them messing with your eye 😈

Wishing you a speedy recovery Bryan. I hear that the best thing about it is that you will no longer require glasses for nearsightedness. Based on your mini-Bryan graphic, I am assuming that this will be a happy outcome. Wish I could get rid of mine!
I have a new laptop and I’m getting used to the new more compact keyboard. I’ve had to type this four times because I keep hitting keys that end up deleting half my paragraphs. lol. My old laptop lasted for 5 years and I had really adapted to that one apparently.

I also wish you a speedy recovery although this is a low risk/high benefit kind of deal. I had it done to my one operational eye and two days later I was glasses free (except for reading) for the first time in 62 years.Mitt Romney;s brother in law did the deed and did it well, proving that not all conservatives are worthless.

Juanita, screens and keyboards are the most parts of a computer system because they are your access to everything. I still keep an old IBM USB wired keyboard for for big written projects because of the postive feel of the key switches. My typing feed gets a significant boost when I use that keyboard. when ever you change keyboards there is always a learning curve. I kow your problem because I have it with the little Bluetooth keyboard I use with my phone and pad.
I’ve worn glasses since middle school, so I will still get a pair, even if they are plain glass as your blink reflex gets slow when you have worn them for years.
It’s more annoying than a real concern, Kryten. Having to put in 2 or more drops every 2 hours eats up your time.
The eye they are doing first currently looks like there is Vaseline smeared on my glasses. Glasses or no glasses isn’t my concern, it is clearing the vision in my right eye.
My younger brother didn’t have a problem, so I don’t expect anything to be bad, just annoying until it’s over and done with. It will be a month of eye drops.

The second eye gets done tomorrow. I now know that my original equipment lenses have become yellow from the cataracts and I just lost an argument with my sister-in-law over the color of my bath towels – they are blue not teal.

this is why I’m going to put off getting any kind of eye surgery I may ever possibly need, forever if I possibly can.
It’s a light show. You can’t feel anything but if you bring your ear buds and have Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane, Cream, Moody Blues, etc on the play list you won’t care after the tranqs kick in.
Add some Black Mountain , Brian Jonestown Massacre, and Black Angels to that playlist and I can dig it. But I still can’t stand someone touching my eyeball. Last time, I passed out. Nope, no joke. Just passed right out.
That’s where the tranquilizer does its job. Between the local anesthetic eye drops and the tranqs you don’t get any input except the light show. You don’t feel anything. That’s why you need to have dark glasses with you. Your eyes are dilated to the maximum and the eyeball can’t feel anything, so you need protection from light and dust. Your blink reflex doesn’t work properly.
i don’t own any earbuds so I guess I can’t have any eye surgery 😈
as for the suggested playlists, I’ve at least heard of the groups on your list. I’ve never heard of any of the ones badtux mentions, had to go look them up on the internet.
and as as a card-carrying member of the disco generation I’m thinking beegees (stayin’ alive) and Gloria gaynor (I will survive) and others of that ilk 🙂
Staying Alive and I Will Survive would definitely not be on my play list for surgery – too many negative vibes there. The rhythms are fine, but the lyrics are ehhh… 😉
The ones I mentioned should sound familiar, Hipparchia. They’re either retro 60’s style psych-pop (Black Angels) or jam bands inspired by the Grateful Dead (BJM, Black Mountain). The nice thing about music is that it comes around again, and there’s always something new that sounds like something old except with enough difference to make it worth listening to.

Welp, I didn’t know cataracts could do that. Learn something new everyday. I just thought eyesight became dimmer but didn’t know about the color thing.
Hope the second operation was as successful as the first. That’s a lot to be happening in a short period of time.
Apparently that is part of the dimming. In my right eye the cloudiness passed over my pupil and really obscured my vision in that eye.
Both eyes have been done and no problems have been noted. I get my follow up with my regular eye doctor on Monday.
