He Doesn’t “Do” Respect

Both Jill and Jim DeRosa have noted that Howard Dean wasn’t invited to the “change of command” ceremony for the DNC Chair.

What exactly would lead anyone to expect the Obama organization to have any regard for other people? If you aren’t part of the cult of personality, you don’t exist. People are expected to just fall in line behind his awesomeness, not be thanked for their assistance.

AAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!
I’m sure that Rahm Emmanuel had something to do with leaving Dr. Dean off the list…now that Rahm has finished dissin’ the 50 State Strategy and now thinks it was his idea all along.

Rahm Emanuel is one of my least favorite people on the planet. He has screwed over so many progressive candidates and lost too many elections to be anything but an unnoticed back-bencher, but he is part of the Chicago machine, so he’s going to get power to help the Blue Dogs skew the House.

Dr. Dean worked his butt off, and he deserved to be recognized for what he accomplished. This is just more pettiness.

When the Clinton branch of the Dems went after Dr. Dean to get him ousted, I was incensed. I called the DNC and told them repeatedly that Dr. Dean “speaks for me”…and I gosh darn well meant it.

The Democratic Party is dead. This is the Obama Machine and they don’t do democracy.

Rahm ran the progressive candidate out of my district… as I keep repeating … and then we lost the election to the ultra conservative Peter Roskam. And we will never get rid of him now. Unless of course he runs for that vacant senate seat (oh wait it’s temporarily occupied by Burris) and wins it. Which is very possible considering the opinion that most Illinoisans have about our Democrats these days. Geeee thanks Rahm.

I took an instinctive dislike to Emanuel before I even learned what he had been up to in the House. Then I learned to equate him with DeLay, as two of a kind.

It’s fairly certain, thanks to Blagojevich, that the seat is a probable pick-up for the Republicans with a minimally qualified candidate.

Well, hell. I don’t like them dissin’ Dr. Dean. He is a pretty cool guy, in my opinion! You would think they would have at least invited him to attend. It would have given the Obama team a lot of goodwill, and what does goodwill hurt? I think it would help!

It is the normal, natural thing to do, having the old boss, welcome the new boss, even if they don’t have a standard ceremony, like the military’s change of command, with the old commander passing the new commander the unit’s flag.

It is common courtesy, not special reward. Dr. Dean was highly effective and helped to build the Democratic Party. The Obama Party keep insulting core constituencies of the base, and may have already poisoned the well of support for his administration.

I don’t feel sorry for Dean in the least; he drank the kool-aid, and backed the wrong person. Shoulda backed Hillary (you know, like “you should have bought a squirrel” (see Rat Race)……. Sucks to be him. Lemme throw a pity party.

Actually, he stayed fairly neutral which is why he’s out and dissed.

He didn’t come out with a statement of support until after the result was a given, and he did some good work for the party nationally which Obama’s crew is in the process of throwing away.
