New Source?
A couple of days ago CBS reported on a new source of foreign news, GlobalPost.com. I waited to write about it until their site was up, which it now is.
This is a network of stringers who live all over the world who will be sending in stories about the areas they live in. Many are former foreign correspondents for media outlets who have been laid off in the latest round of cost cutting and consolidation.
The emphasis won’t be on the breaking stories, but on the real lives of these areas. It looks a lot like a community blog, but why not?

This is an idea I’ve been chasing after for my blog for sometime. Local stuff. I just never seem to be able to sustain it. It takes allot to get plugged in.
Frederick´s last blog post..I am, I am Superman.
It may be the only way to get local news in the not too distant future, the way newspapers are closing. Decent local coverage is hard to come by. The trend has been that good local reporters move on, and there is constant churning. Attending town meetings is not the most exciting thing in the world, and getting to know all of the players takes time and energy.
Finding long time residents who can write a declarative sentence, and have some concern for accuracy is not an easy task.
