Chill Out
It will be months before any real change to the way the government works can be expected, regardless of tomorrow. The Shrubbery will be gone, but the Hedgemony lingers on in every department.
Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, was decided in1954, I was in a segregated high school in 1962.
Griswold v. Connecticut was decided in 1965, and contraceptives are still not readily available in this country. In some ways they are less available now than they were a decade ago.
Loving v. Virginia was decided in 1967, but states are still in involved in telling people who they can marry.
Roe v. Wade was decided in 1973, but I doubt that anyone thinks that fight is over.
In his post titled, Economists, ideology, and stimulus, Paul Krugman is annoyed with fellow economists for opposing a large stimulus package on ideological, rather than economic grounds. Educated professionals are ignoring their training and experience to argue against something because it doesn’t conform to their politics.
Anyone who has been paying attention knows that the only thing that the Republicans have going for them is their lock-step partisanship. They believe that their ideas are in the “beat interests of the country”, no matter how often they have been tried and failed. They will obstruct everything they can to prove that government can’t work.
When Bill Clinton did it, it was called triangulation. Now they want to call it “post partisanship”. What ever you call it, it means surrendering to the Republicans because they don’t negotiate. The sooner people realize they were elected to govern, not to appease politicians, the better off the country will be. It will take some time, which we really don’t have to waste.

Sorry I haven’t been around. Been out most of the past 4 days. Busy right now. 🙂 Was stinking hot today, even the wind was hot. Reminded me of the MidE summer really. Cooling down now thankfully.
Meh – What was really nice today was watching Dumbya’s helicopter fly off into the noon sun.
Moi´s last blog post..Bye Bye Bye Bye ASSWIPE
We have the same wimps “leading” Congress, so I don’t expect much in the way of real change, except Democrats instead of Republicans trying to steal the money I have been paying into the Social Security trust fund to give to the people who screwed everything up.
I realize that having the first acknowledged Black in the White House is a change [there have been too many Southerners in the White House to assume that he is actually our first racially mixed President], but that’s about it.
We’ll have to wait to see if anything actually happens.
