National Weather Service warns of falling iguanas
Note: this is not a photoshop or a dropbear gag. That is a real National Weather Service warning and people have been injured when walking under trees and getting hit in the head by this invasive species.

It’s Cold
It is hard to type in mittens. At 10PM CST the temperature is 34°F. The forecast is for 30° before morning. We are warmer than the North County because of the temperature of the bodies of water that surround us. This is way too early for this stuff. This happens in January not November. I really want to hibernate.

I have been spending my time working on an irrigation system. The time has been split between actual plumbing and locating parts. The basic problem was figuring out why the pump wouldn’t hold its prime. I’m dealing with people who think it’s an imposition to go to the pump house to turn it on. Priming the pump was totally beyond their skill set.
While I have noticed that the current Resident of 1600 PA Ave. continues to violate norms and laws, there’s not much point in commenting if the House refuses to begin impeachment proceedings.
In sports news Chris Froome:
Britain’s four-time Tour de France champion, 34, suffered a fractured right femur, a broken hip, a fractured elbow and fractured ribs and lost consciousness following the crash.
They discovered later that he also had a neck fracture, so he won’t be attempting to win his fifth Yellow Jersey next month.
We are also in the middle of FIFA Women’s World Cup in France. The US is the defending champion. The “usual suspects” are playing well and advancing. The US, Canada, England, Netherlands, France, Germany, Italy, and Sweden are already through to the knock-out round of 16.
The women play a better game than the men – more skill and less muscle.

Billy Bowlegs Festival
In order to generate “local excitement” [sell stuff] the chamber of commerce is once again annoying people with the Billy Bowlegs Festival. This year the unavoidable part runs from Friday, May 31st and finishes up on Monday. The really obnoxious parade on Monday screws up traffic and sends a lot of noisy people through my neighborhood.
Almost as bad as the parade traffic jam are the Friday fireworks. I know a lot of people enjoy fireworks, but they probably have not seen what loud noises and flashes of light can do to people and aircraft – I am definitely not a fan.
With luck it will rain the rest of the week… 😈

Trump held a rally in Panama City which is not thrilled with the support they have gotten after Hurricane Michael. These are Trump voters and they don’t like being treated like Puerto Ricans: Frustrated Florida residents still waiting for help as President Trump visits.
Locally my Congresscritter is waiting to find out if he still has a law license: Matt Gaetz’s threat tweet to Cohen still matters to Florida Bar. In the meantime he is making a fool of himself: Matt Gaetz defends Barr by shouting Dems ‘Don’t have the guts’ to impeach Trump.
Of course, the Dems can impeach Trump after they impeach Barr, but will start with a contempt citation.

Still Making Us Cringe
This is my Congresscritter: Matt Gaetz says Trans rights would mean that Trump could be first female POTUS. This might even top the agitprop that same-sex marriage would mean people could marry their pets.

I Am Cursed Part II
It isn’t just my Congresscritter, but my Senators: Wow, Marco Rubio Is Dumb.
Rubio is the Trump lead in Congress on Venezuela. He is English/Spanish bilingual. Germán, a form of Herman, is not an uncommon given name in Latin America. A quick scan by a search engine would have located Senor Dam’s Twitter account.
I am truly cursed…

I Am Cursed
…When it comes to Congresscritters. It is hard to believe that the least embarrassing I’ve had since 1980 was the star of a local children’s TV show before entering politics.
Matt Gaetz is supposed to represent the First Congressional District of Florida, but he is only interested in sucking up to Donald Trump. He sends out e-mails, but the only local event he has held since being elected were in small communities on the Florida/Alabama border.
According to Chris Cillizza, Digby, Atrios, Nicolle Wallace & company, and others on MSNBC, Gaetz may have committed witness tampering in addition to “conduct unbecoming” a member of Congress.
Unlike the President, members of Congress can definitely be indicted for violating laws. Gaetz does seem to be able to bring people together when it comes to agreeing he is a low-life gangster wanna be.
Update: ‘Gangsta Gaetz’ sort of apologizes after “getting his knuckles rapped” by Miss Nancy and has been referred to the Florida State Bar for his conduct. Witness tempering is a no-no for attorneys even in Florida, and even if they are in Congress.

“It ain’t over ’til it’s over”
We are going to have automatic recounts in both the race for governor and for Senator in Florida. Mail-in ballots from foreign countries are accepted until the 16th at least. With over 8 million ballots cast the opponents are separated by around 20,000 votes in each race. People need to chill out and wait.
It’s the same for the governor’s race in Georgia and the Senate race in Nevada. Relax, this is not microwave popcorn, there is plenty of time.

Election Stuff
This coming Tuesday is last day to register in Florida if you want to vote in the November election. Most Supervisor of Election offices in Florida will be open tomorrow because “European Invasion Day” is a “Yankee” holiday.
As usual the Federal mid-term election is important in Florida because state-wide offices are up for election and the ballot is always crowded with constitutional amendments. I have been too busy to do more than scan them, but will cover them later.
Everyone needs to make their voice heard. When one of the major parties doesn’t have a problem with possible sexual predators being in the Senate or the Supreme Court, it is time for change. The travesty of a “background check” that the FBI was required to do [only being allowed to talk to people who backed the nominee] must end now.

Still Overwhelmed
Lost half a day with police reports, another day shopping for replacement tools, and then two days removing what the ‘prime suspect’ had done, in order to do it right. This has not been the most fun-filled rehab I have ever done.
Of course it is better than Trump’s week. If you don’t pay your attorneys, you end up with Michael Cohen and Rudy Giuliani. It is unclear which of the two is doing the most harm. 😈

Adventures In Property Management Continues
My days are filled with wandering the aisles of “home improvement” stores, hardware stores, and used appliance stores. Because of the condo rentals, you can locate good deals on ‘used’ three to five-year-old appliances from condos. The management companies want the owners to buy new at least every five years and the cleaning crews take good care of them.
I’m hoping that we can finish before the first and no one dies in the process [… or is arrested … or is arrested for murder, a twofer disaster].
My new kinetic bullet puller arrived, but I’m putting off dealing with that problem until after the apartment is done.
