No To The Front-Runners

Sorry, Mrs. Clinton, but if you can’t admit your vote for the authorization of the use of force against Iraq was wrong, I can’t vote for you. I’m not voting for Presidents who can’t admit they’ve made a mistake. You are wrong on Iran because you have tied yourself to the AIPAC/Likud view of the Middle East. They are in the minority in Israel, and you should recognize that you don’t have to accept their opinions to be taken seriously. You need to take Democratic voters concerns more seriously than you do. You husband could pull off triangulating, you can’t.

Mr. Edwards, I like a lot of what you have to say, I really do, but you have to show as much concern for your base as you have for your enemies. The paired “problem of Amanda & Melissa” was handled badly, especially in view of your reaction to “Mudcat” Saunders. The statements of Amanda & Melissa before they were hired by your campaign offended professional victim William DonoWho, and you handed out stern warnings. But when one of your campaign consultants, while working on your campaign, insulted liberals, you respond “that’s Mudcat being Mudcat.” Until and unless you can show as much concern for the feelings of your friends as your enemies, don’t ask for my support.

[More information on the “Mudcat” issue see Steve Bates’s post: CrapFeline Saunders.]

Barak Obama looks so good at first glance. He is the anti-Shrubbery: intelligent, well-educated, curious, and competent. Apparently he has made some very bad choices among his advisors, because he’s getting foreign policy advice from Colin Powell, his general counsel, Robert F. Bauer, spoke in favor of pardoning “Scooter” Libby, and he’s putting out bogus information on Hillary Clinton. Mr. Obama, managers are judged by the people they hire, and your record is not good.

[Michael noticed the Colin Powell issue in Not a good idea, Senator, Digby was all over the Bauer problem in Bubblicious; and Steve Soto caught the campaign tactics in A Curious “Tier One/Tier Two” Obama Campaign – Against Hillary]

Realistically, anyone with a “D” after their name is electable in 2008, but only if Democrats turn out to vote. If these people are not going to act like they are Democrats, what is the motivation?

While I’ve completely ignored the debates (both parties-I’m an equal opportunity disgusted person), I’ve been following along in the media and the blogosphere.

I don’t trust Clinton. At all. She has achieved a sizable victory in the fight for equality as I now equate her with the finest politicians this country has fielded over the years (the men) and I find her just as untrustworthy as her peers. Well done!

I wish Edwards would become more tangible. To me he comes across like a mirage, some shimmering thing off in the distance…not sure if it is real or an illusion.

I wish Obama had sat this one out and opted for becoming a more seasoned Senator. The Colin Powell thing has soured me greatly…Powell should be relegated to the dustbin of history for his complicity in the Iraq Affair.

Couldn’t really care about Bill Richardson at this point. Biden doesn’t impress me.

I’m still hoping Wes Clark decides to run…I would “convert” to being a Democrat and I would actively campaign for him.

My fantasy election involves Gore running as an Independent and forcing a Constitutional crisis…

Gore-I. A lovely fantasy.

Gore, Clark. and Richardson, in that order, are my choices for President, with Edwards and Obama for Vice.

Hillary should be up up there, but she won’t run as the person who pushed health care in the 1990s. She keeps hiding her strengths under a bushel and acting like a centrist.

One of Hillary’s campaign folks (Carvell) is actively soliciting for a Presidential pardon for Libby…and she hasn’t fired his sorry boney ass yet. Apparently she can’t admit she made a mistake of hiring him for her campaign to begin with.

Obama’s folks are looking to destruct the campaign.

I like Edwards, but his handling of the staff gaffs are problematic. Can I vote for Elizabeth?

Richards? Oh, geez. If a guy’s gonna lie on his resume about being recruited for baseball…

Gore? He’s far more effective outside of the Beltway.

I’m just wishing General Clark would make another run again.

I’d vote for Elizabeth Edwards in a heart beat, she gets it.

Hillary needs to dump Bill’s old crowd and get her own people.

Obama needs to go back to the people he had in Illinois who could win a campaign.

I don’t think Gore wants to put up the media again.

It’s hard to tell what the General will do at this point.
