It currently 390 miles Southeast of Kingston, Jamaica.

The conditions around the eye are so bad that a NOAA aircraft aborted its mission. The second hurricane and second Cat 5. We may not get as many as predicted this season, but the ones we get are monsters.

Do we know when the last time we had two cat 5 storms in one season? this seems rather remarkable.

2005 was the all time record with 4, behind that were 2 in both 1960 and 1961.

Felix looks to be in line with Wilma, Gilbert, Beulah, and Allen for fastest developing storm with a 63 millibar pressure drop in 24 hours. Its track is similar to Gilbert’s.

They barely had time to let out their breath from Dean. Geez. They’re looking to get pounded down in Mexico again.

This is taking place while Henriette is beating up the Pacific coast. This is not their year for tropical weather.
