Movement: Northeast [055°] near 7 mph.
Maximum sustained winds: 115 mph [185 kph].
Wind Gusts: 140 mph.
Tropical Storm Wind Radius: 115 miles [185 km].
Hurricane Wind Radius: 30 miles [45 km].
Minimum central pressure: 968 mb.

It has made landfall near Santa Cruz del Sur, Cuba and is inland.

A Hurricane Warning remains in effect for the Cuban provinces of Ciego de Avila, Camaguey, Las Tunas, Granma, and Holguin.

A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for the Cuban province Santiago de Cuba.

A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for the central Bahamas including Cat Island, the Exumas, Long Island, Rum Cay, San Salvador, Acklins Island, Crooked Island, and the Ragged Islands.

hurricane paloma, that’s just not right.

The first recorded incident involving white doves was the sinking of a Persian fleet due to a storm off the coast of Greece. The Persians apparently had the doves on their ships, and they were released when the ships broke up, so there is a connection.

There are times when Paloma Picasso is not a nice person, and doves crap all over everything down here, so I’m not cutting them any slack.
